Actress Emma Watson has denied she has been the subject of a kidnapping plot that was foiled by a taxi driver on the set of her new film, it has been reported.

The 25-year-old has been shooting scenes for the live action Disney remake of Beauty And The Beast at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, where the the incident was said to have been been discussed.

However, a spokesperson for the star and Beauty And The Beast told MailOnline: 'The story was looked into by production and found to be unsubstantiated and untrue.'

Surrey Police added: 'Nothing has ever been reported to us.’

The Sun had previously claimed two alleged kidnappers, thought to be cleaners at the site, had been planning to either kidnap the Harry Potter star, or steal from her.

The paper alleged a taxi driver had overheard discussions between the two studio workers, who are thought to be from eastern Europe, and reported the conversation to his management, who in turn alerted senior studio staff.

A source told The Sun: 'There was concern about her safety. The taxi staff reported what had been overheard after a night shoot.'

'They said the two studio staff travelling in the cab were chatting a foreign language, unaware that the driver could understand every word.'

On Friday, security around the site was reportedly increased in the wake of the alleged incident, said to have taken place last week.

A guard is reported to have been posted outside Emma's trailer on the film set to increase the safety of the Noah star, who has been the target of stalkers before, while she is on set.

MailOnline has also contacted representatives for Shepperton Studios for comment.

This isn't the first time the star - who shot to fame playing Hermione, the bookish love-interest of Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise - has had a security scare.

In 2011 on the set of the biblical epic, Noah, filming had to halt after an obsessed fan of the actress broke onto the film's set.

But while Emma may have to face various setback related to her famous, the degree-educated star also likes to live a relatively normal life.

She was spotted out and about on Wednesday running errands by herself in London, dressed in a casual outfit - a world away from her glam red carpet looks.

Announcing her huge new role earlier this year, Emma said that her six-year-old self was 'on the ceiling' as she shared with her Facebook fans that she would play the lead role of Belle.

And, speaking to The Telegraph about the role for the first time recently, the actress revealed that the role will be a challenging one because it involves singing.

'I sing, so that's really unexpected,' she confessed. 'I've never had to do that for a film role before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that.

'It gives me a different challenge, really. That's terrifying in and of itself!'

As well as the hotly anticipated Disney remake, the talented actress has also signed up to thriller The Circle, which co-stars Hollywood legend Tom Hanks.

The film is currently in pre-production but it sounds like Emma and Tom are already getting along famously, as the actress took to Twitter a week ago to wish the 59-year-old a very happy birthday.

As well as building up her acting credits, busy Emma has also been making great strides in her role as an advocate for ending inequalities for women around the world, gaining worldwide attention this year for the HeForShe campaign.
