Axl Duhamel, the 23-month-old son of Josh Duhamel and Fergie, got to spend some quality time with his daddy on Friday.

The little boy was spotted out with his 42-year-old actor father in Brentwood, California, enjoying a sunny day in a park.

Although Fergie, 40, did not join her boys for the outing, Josh and Axl seemed just fine with male bonding - they even had a chance to wear similar hats.

Axl wore an FBI hat turned around backwards, perhaps so the toddler could steal some authority away from his parents.

He was also clad in fret shorts and a light blue T-shirt covered in a design made of repeated images of Bill Murray's head from the 2004 movie, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.

Axl had a pair of adorable miniature black Converse trainers, which doting dad Josh happily carried when he decided to go barefoot.

Like daddy: With his cap, Axl may have aspired to be like his father, who played an FBI agent in the recently cancelled Battle Creek

Meanwhile Josh went for a Vans 'Off the Wall' baseball cap in red and blue.

The hat mostly hid the Transformers actor's hair, although plenty of day-off stubble was visible on Josh's face.

He wore a bright yellow T-shirt - tight enough to show off the actor's considerably muscular chest - with charcoal trousers and flip flops.

Josh may be taking the lead on parenting duties for the moment, since he recently completed filming on a 2016 film, Beyond Deceit, which co-stars Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins.

In addition to this the actor's latest TV gig, Battle Creek, was unfortunately cancelled by CBS in the spring, thereby giving Josh a little bit of down-time before his next project.

Fergie, who married Josh back in 2009, could be using this time wisely, completing work on her anticipated second solo album.

The Black-Eyed Peas singer released a single from that album, L.A. Love (La La), back in September and more recently revealed she was in the final stages of production.
