A Wolverine in its natural habitat! Hugh Jackman explores the Australian Outback on a quad bike as he holidays with family

He'll soon be touring around the world to promote Pan.

But at the moment Hugh Jackman is on holiday in his home country of Australia and is making the most of the dusty Outback.

The 46-year-old actor has been Instagramming shots from his getaway and on Monday was seen ATV-ing about in the searing heat after visiting tourist spot Uluru.

Hugh took a selfie while speeding along, looking exhilarated as he shielded his eyes from the harsh sun in a pair of gold-rimmed aviators.

'Off roading. Out back' he captioned the shot, which was quickly swarmed by likes from his 2.6million-plus followers.

The Wolverine star is thought to be around Alice Springs, a town in the Northern Territory, as on Sunday he shared a shot of himself by the iconic Australian natural landmark Uluru, or Ayers Rock.

Despite travelling around the globe for work, Hugh seemed humbled by the experience, writing on Instagram: 'Waited 46 years for this moment. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Awe inspiring!'

Hugh jetted out of the US after spending a few days at Comic-Con in San Diego last weekend.

The beloved Australian star was doing early rounds of promotion for Pan, which will see him play villainous Blackbeard.

In what was a landmark announcement, Hugh said in May that he would be retiring the himself as Wolverine with the character's next solo flick in 2017.

'I felt like it was the right time to do it...[I've played Wolverine for] 17 years, I never thought in a million years it would last this long,' he told Dr. Oz back in May.
