Christie Brinkley, 61, shows off her impressive physique and silly side on magical Italian getaway with three children

Even at 61-years-old, Christie Brinkley is as glamorous as ever.

The model showed off her youthful looks while boasting - and cracking jokes - about her tropical holiday on Instagram over the weekend.

'A Pirates Life for Me! Yo ho yo ho and a bottle of Vino for me ! Wishing me Hardies and Buckos always the wind at your back!' the shining star wrote with a smiling snap of her posing on the front of a boat.

In the image, the blonde beauty is showing off her tan, lean limbs while wearing a fitted white shirt and bleached cutoffs which she layered with a floral-printed coverup.

The model added a couple pictures of the idyllic Italian landscape as she and her family explored the Mediterranean destination.

The good-looking family was previously in Capri, now checking out the sights of Panarea.

'I am once again amazed by the beauty of the flowers and gardens of these beautiful Aeolian Islands,' Christie wrote with a picture of a purple flower.

The mother-of-three also pointed out the 'painted boats' and mesmerizing sunset.

Christie has been enjoying an idyllic European getaway with her three children: daughters Alexa Ray Joel, 29, and Sailor Brinkley Cook, 17, and son Jack Paris Taubman, 20.

The former Sports Illustrated model and actress previously showed off her fantastic legs in one particular snap as she prepared to leave for her yacht-based getaway around the island of Capri, just off the coast of Italy. 

Her pins, tied up with racy knee-high lace sandals, were particularly eye-catching as she announced she was ready to jet off, her glossy blonde locks coiffed to beachy perfection. 

She wrote: 'Au Revaderci Mi Amici!!! Off to go on a Sailing Adventure! My purse @figuelove and inside my bag is @brinkleybeauty ! (sic)'

And the family of four have certainly been having a whale of a time, climbing the hills of the island, showing off their photography skills against the picturesque hilly backdrop of Capri and eating the local pasta-based fare.

Christie continued to defy her 61 years throughout her sneak peek family photo album, with one shot in particular making her appear as youthful as somebody half her age.

The gorgeous family, stood on what appeared to be a cliff face and overlooking the sea, showed the blonde beauty wearing a rather revealing baby blue cut-out top with a flirty white skirt and a sunhat as she beamed up to the camera.

Alexa Ray, who takes after her famous father Billy Joel as a singer-songwriter, looked lovely with her brunette tresses flowing loosely while sporting a chic printed kaftan.

Her younger half-sister Sailor, whose father is Christie's fourth husband Peter Halsey Cook, hugged her tightly and showing off her potential as an aspiring model.

Shirtless Jack - who is following in his mum's footsteps by becoming an actor is, studying at Strasberg Institute - meanwhile, looked unfazed to be spending his time away with his female relatives.

The family were a close unit as they lapped up the luxury on the yacht, enjoying champagne and, ever youthful, Christie even made sure to get in on the action, putting on her bikini and diving into the water along with her teen daughter Sailor.

The stunning star revealed the trip gave her a chance to fulfill one of her ambitions: to swim in the Blue Grotto (known as Grotta Azzurra), a sea cave in Capri.  

Along with the shot in which she is seen floating in the brilliant blue water, she wrote: 'Swimming in the Grotta Azzuro...a lifelong dream come true!'

Christie recently raised a proverbial glass to her ex-husband Billy Joel, 65, who tied the knot to his pregnant girlfriend Alexis Roderick, 33.

The musician and his partner had surprised guests who thought they were attending a typical Independence Day party on July 4, only to realise they were actually at the couple's wedding.

After the nuptials, the supermodel wrote on her Instagram page: 'Congratulations to the glowing bride and groom. And to my daughter Alexa, who has a wonderful friend in Alexis! Wishing the growing family every happiness!'

Christie's eldest daughter - her only child with Billy - is just four years younger than his new wife, a former Morgan Stanley executive.

The ex-couple have a famously amicable relationship, and so the social media post was met with praise from her fans who considered her comment to be a genuine show of support.

But her remarks could also be interpreted as a slight - referencing the fact Miss Roderick is just a few years older than their daughter and pregnant with his baby.

However, a spokesperson for Christie has told MailOnline that there was no malice in her very public comment.

They said: 'Christie posted a photo on her Instagram to send well-wishes to Billy, who remains a close friend, and his new bride, Alexis. There was by no means a cynical angle here and to say this is a backwards compliment, is not the truth nor was it the intention.

'Christie genuinely cares for Alexis, Billy’s new bride, and their daughter Alexa loves her, too. It was a happy and loving event and her Instagram reflected that sentiment.'
