Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas sign divorce documents to officially end 18-year marriage

Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas have signed documents to officially end their 18-year marriage.

It comes a year after the actress filed for divorce from her fourth husband.

The documents will be signed off by a judge in the coming days, TMZ reports.

As the news site reported, Melanie initially asked for full custody of the couple's only child together - Stella - but that became a non-issue when their daughter turned 18 years old in September of last year.

Melanie also has a 29-year-old son, Alexander Bauer, and 25-year-old actress daughter Dakota Johnson.

This becomes Melanie's fourth divorce and the second for Antonio.

The 57-year-old actress and the 54-year-old Spanish actor parted ways in June 2014.

In a joint statement, they said: 'We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost 20-year marriage in a loving and friendly manner, honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends, and the beautiful time we have spent together.'

Last month, the couple sold their Hancock Park mansion for a record $15.9 million. 

Melanie and Antonio were among the most watched couples after falling in love on the set of Too Much.

The couple fell in love while shooting the 1995 romantic comedy Too Much, and the next year their daughter Stella was born.

Melanie showed how deep her love was by getting his name tattooed in a heart on her upper right arm, which now appears to have faded to an almost indecipherable scroll.

After their split last summer, Antonio was reportedly seen in the company of several beauties in St. Tropez, according to Us Weekly.

The actor went public with a new girlfriend, Nicole Kimpel, last September, and they have put on many displays of public affection since.

Kimpel accompanied Antonio to Madrid, Spain over the weekend for the TNTLA Platino Awards where he picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Antonio looked totally relaxed in a photo he shared on Twitter that saw him leaning back and holding his trophy, tuxedo jacket off.

'Happy and grateful for this award,' he tweeted to his 150,000 followers.

Melanie put on a smile while out and about in Los Angeles on July 15, wearing summery print frock and black ballet flats. 

That night, she stepped out for dinner to Craig's Restaurant with novelist Jackie Collins.
