She got game! Amy Poehler nabs role as first-ever female NBA basketball coach in new sports comedy film

She may have left Parks And Recreation behind, but Amy Poehler's film career is moving along just fine.

On Wednesday, Deadline revealed the 43-year-old actress has signed on board a sports-comedy film written by Amy's frequent co-star, Ike Barinholtz, 38, and David Stassen.

While details about the movie have not yet been released, it will star Amy as a once-bright basketball coach who could use a challenge.

This would be a very different role for the diminutive actress, who is best known for starring as Leslie Knope on TV comedy Parks And Recreation.

In the film, Amy's character will get the job coaching an NBA team - the first woman ever to earn that leadership position - for an organization that might want her to fail.

Amy doesn't have to look far for inspiration - former WNBA star Becky Hammon made history by becoming the first female assistant coach for NBA team San Antonio Spurs.

Ike - best known for playing Morgan Tookers on The Mindy Project - will also appear in the film, which will be distributed by Universal and co-produced by Amy's Paper Kite Productions.

Amy and Ike have worked together before, both on the animated series, The Awesomes, and on the upcoming film, Sisters.

That movie, due out in December, focuses on two estranged sisters - played by Amy and by Tina Fey - who throw a party at the house their parents are about to sell.

At least two more projects are in the works for Amy as well.

This summer, she will reprise her role of Susie in the Netflix reboot, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp.

The busy actress - who voiced the character of Joy in Pixar's recent movie, Inside Out - will also co-star with Will Ferrell in The House.

A comedy about parents who start a casino in their basement in order to fund their daughter's college education, Amy and Will are set to begin filming the summer 2016 movie this fall.

Having won a Golden Globe Award for Parks And Recreation in 2014, Amy was nominated last week for an Emmy for the sixth (and final) time for that show.
