Nicki Minaj blasts ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels on Twitter for 'misleading' fans one day after controversy with Taylor Swift

Just one day after her MTV Video Music Awards rant - which became a controversy with Taylor Swift - Nicki Minaj has taken to Twitter to shut down ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels.

The 32-year-old believed her ex had been 'misleading' her fans in claims he had made in Tweets posted on Wednesday in an effort to hit back at the star's new boyfriend, Meek Mill.

However, the Anaconda performer tried to keep her cool as she shut down the drama - and his claims - adding: 'Wish u the best.'

The 34-year-old producer hit back at his ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend, Meek, by insisting the Feeling Myself rapper still regularly contacts him.

He cryptically tweeted: 'Show him the email you sent me on my birthday. If were not 2gthr u shouldnt be questioning me about old sh** at all. thats not moving on. (sic)'

However, Nicki quickly responded to Safaree - with whom she split last year after 14 years together - insisting her current beau knows all about their occasional conversations, accusing him of 'misleading' her fans.

She wrote: 'He knows when u hit me. He sees the entire convo so don't purposely try to be misleading. That's corny if it's true. Wish u the best. (sic)'

The outburst comes just a day after rapper Mill criticised Safaree for letting Nicki dance provocatively with male dancers while they were together, also mocking his dance moves.

He tweeted: 'This n**** SB was twerking mannnnnnnn....i always thought u was gay letting Ya girl do all that s*** with n***** while yall where together! Lol (sic).'

The day before Nicki had taken to Twitter to share her frustrations over a lack of MTV VMAs nominations for Anaconda, as well as for her collaboration with Beyonce, Feeling Myself.

Nicki called out the industry for her lack of nominations, noting: 'If I was a different "kind" of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well.'

'When the "other" girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.'

She continued: 'If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.'

The slim-bodied Swift took offense to this, as she had received nine nominations for Bad Blood and Blank Space, and she hit back at Nicki.

Taylor wrote: 'I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.'

Nicki seemed surprised by her response, replying: 'Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this.'

The Bang Bang hitmaker added: 'I'm still confused as to why u just tweeted me when I made it abundantly clear...'

Taylor eventually seemingly offered an olive branch as she tweeted back: 'If I win, please come up with me!! You're invited to any stage I'm ever on.' 

That same day Meek took to Twitter to diss Nicki's friend and collaborator Drake, posting: 'Stop comparing drake to me too.... He don't write his own raps! That's why he ain't tweet my album because we found out!'
