The man charged with fatally stabbing his girlfriend Reality TV star Loredana Nesci last week says he did it in self-defense as he wrestled a knife away from her.

Robert Regan’s, 51, lawyer says it was Nesci who attacked with the knife first.

'Robert tried to disarm her,' Regan’s attorney, Shepard Kopp, said in a statement, 'and in the intense struggle that ensued she tragically suffered a fatal wound.’

'Loredana Nesci was a former LAPD officer, highly trained in the use of deadly weapons,' Kopp wrote in a statement, according to Dailybreeze.com

'She was also an avid bodybuilder, and was exceptionally strong. She attacked Robert with a hunting knife in the midst of a domestic dispute.

While defending himself against her assault with a deadly weapon, Robert tried to disarm her, and in the intense struggle that ensued, she tragically suffered a fatal wound. Robert is not guilty of committing any criminal offense,' he added.

Friends told ABC that Nesci had a tougher side but that she was never violent.

‘Loredana was just the nicest person you have ever met,’ said friend Tori Moorhead.

‘She helped so many people. You'd come in and ask her for help and she would never tell you no and it was never about money with her clients.’

Nesci and Reagan were heard arguing before she was found dead in her Los Angeles home, Dailymail.com exclusively revealed last week.

On Wednesday morning, 47-year-old Loredana's body was found in her Redondo Beach home, and Robert, 51, was arrested on suspicion of murder and held on $1m bail.

And neighbors of the pair reveal they had a fiery relationship that in the final month of her life turned into regular rows.

Neighbor Adam Gorelick, 28, revealed that he overheard the couple shouting at each other about renovations for the beachside property.

He also shared that he overheard loud, sex noises coming from the property the night before Loredana was found dead.

'They really kept to themselves, but I did hear them having arguments. The house walls are thin around here, but they were very loud,' he said.

'It seemed they were arguing always about the house, he was always working on the house, doing the contracting, and they were always arguing about that kind of stuff.

'And the arguments were getting more frequent, you’d hear a few a week, it wasn’t just once in a blue moon, and in the last month it escalated.

'These arguments would last anything from half an hour to an hour, and there’d be a cooling off period when one of them would leave the house.'

Adam says the night before Loredana's body was discovered, he heard the couple engaging in aggressive love-making.

'It was strange because the night before, at around 11:30pm I heard them having really loud sex, he said.

'Well, at least it sounded like they were having loud sex. That might have been something that fuelled their relationship. I often heard them having sex, they seemed like they had a very active sex life.'

A friend of Loredana, who met the TV lawyer at the local dog park, also revealed how she nicknamed the seemingly happy couple 'The Bickersons' because they use to bicker with each other a lot.

Laura Riffel, a local real-estate broker, who declined to reveal her age, said: 'I want to talk to the police first before I speculate as to what happened, but the most I’ll say is they were like the ‘Bickersons,’

'They would bicker with each other, but it wasn’t like anything to indicate you could see what was coming.'

Laura also said that she doubted alcohol or drugs played a part, as far as Loredana is concerned.

'Drugs or alcohol? Definitely not on Loredana, she didn’t screw around with those kind of things,' she said.

'She was a straight-shooter, she was a former cop. In fact, I had her at my Christmas party and she didn’t touch a drink.

'I don’t know about Robert personally, but I just want the truth to come out. Did he do this? How did he do it? Was it premeditated… I need to hear what the evidence is first.'

Tina Lewis, Loredana's former hairdresser, dropped off flowers in remembrance for her dear friend at the home.

Speaking to Dailymail.com she revealed her shock at the incident, how much Loredana doted on her five-year-old son, Rocco, and that in her only meeting with Robert she found him respectful.

‘I met Loredana through a promotion I was doing for a hair product and we became friends instantly,' Tina said.

'She was always very personable and she had a strong passion and deep love for her son, and I got to know Rocco, He was a great kid, and it was always about him. Loredana was a selfless person, would do anything for anyone.

'I did Robert’s hair once. She didn’t talk about him at all. She was very indirect whenever it came to him. She loved him a lot, and she didn’t complain to me about him, which is why this is so shocking.

'His personality was very outgoing, and he had his own life going on, so it’s really hard to say. When he was with me, getting his hair cut, he was very respectful.'
