'You guys are terrible crowds to play for': Azealia Banks takes swipe at 'violent and belligerent' Australian festival-goers after Splendour In The Grass performance

She famously locked horns Iggy Azalea in a drawn-out Twitter spat at the end of last year.

But it now appears Azealia Banks has turned her attention to the rapper's home country Australia, where she performed at Byron Bay's Splendour In The Grass on Saturday.

Clearly unimpressed by the crowd's behaviour throughout her hour long set, the New York based musician hit out at festival-goers slamming them as 'violent and belligerent'.

'...In all actuality. You guys are terrible crowds to play for,' 24-year-old Banks, who is known for her attitude, vented on Twitter on Tuesday.

'You're violent and belligerent and I simply will not put my safety at risk. I would've walked off stage had someone thrown something.'

The singer's heated remarks come after radio presenter Paul 'Browny' Brown took a jab at the length of her set.

Last time Banks performed at the festival in 2012, she left the stage after a measly 25 minutes citing 'technical difficulties' for her premature departure.

'Hey everyone let's say Congratulations to @AZEALIABANKS for completing her First Ever Full Australian Concert at @SITG [Splendour In The Grass]. Spewin I missed it,' Brown joked.

Despite trying to make up for his comments by afterwards adding, 'Truth be told we're all not bottle throwing wankers, there's always one idiot ruining it for the rest of us', Banks remained steadfast in her views.

'...Plus you guys are too far away and honestly, the show guarantees are never really worth the trip,' she wrote, noting at the end, '...but I love my fans and will do anything to make them happy.'

In spite of the controversy that followed, there was no doubt the Ice Princess hitmaker's energy-filled performance left fans reeling.

She wowed with her attitude rich brand of rap and dance after taking to the stage in a racy barely-there crop top and matching short shorts.

Banks hit out at one of Australia's hottest exports Iggy Azalea, last December for not caring about 'black issues' despite owing her success to black culture.

Azalea, who has since handed over management of her Twitter page to staff, said in a heated response: 'Special msg for banks: There are many black artists succeeding in all genres. The reason you haven't is because of your p**s poor attitude.

'Your inability to be responsible for your own mistakes, bullying others, the inability to be humble or have self control. It's YOU!

'You created your own unfortunate situation by being a bigot and don't have the mental capacity to realize yet. Probably never will.'

Banks had also slammed the Fancy singer after her Grammy nomination during a radio interview where she said: 'The Grammys are supposed to be awards for artistic excellence. Iggy Azalea's not excellent.'
