Close family and friends, including Pierre's uncle Prince Albert and the groom's mother Princess Caroline, were later joined by approximately 500 additional guests for a garden party in the grounds of the medieval grounds.

Taking to the opulent Monte Carlo venue, Hôtel de Paris in the evening, guests were seen arriving in suits and floor-length gowns to continue the celebrations.

Beatrice, who is the longtime girlfriend of the Monegasque royal, is a member of the ancient aristrocratic House of Borromeo - a family that has owned the Borromean Islands in Lake Maggiore, in northern Italy since the 16th century.

The blonde beauty changed into a stunning white evening dress for the evening celebrations, which was also by Valentino, with a full skirt made with layers of tulle with a cloud design and silver embellishment for the reception.

The floor-length dress featured a dainty racer-front, but the real talking point was the risqué back, held up by two barely-there cross-back straps.

Beatrice scraped her hair back into a bun and sporting minimalist jewellery to let the lavish haute couture look do all the talking.

The royal couple began dating back in May 2008, while attending Milan's Bocconi University together.

According to The International Business Times, the ceremony will be followed by a more lavish, religious wedding in Italy - in the bride's native Borromean Islands.

While Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended the wedding, the couple headed off to host the 67th Red Cross Gala charity event at the grand Salle des Étoiles in Monte Carlo.

The former swimmer put a fashionable foot forward in a sophisticated scarlet one-shouldered jumpsuit from the Valentino Resort 2015 collection, making it two for two for the Italian designer.

She accessorised with sparkling gold sandals, matching clutch bag and diamond earrings.

Other revellers donned woven hats to keep the heat away, with colourful sun dresses or fashionable palazzo pants.

HISTORY OF THE HOUSE OF GRIMALDI

The House of Grimaldi has ruled the tiny sovereign state of Monaco on France’s Mediterranean Coast for over 700 years but the spotlight has shone with greatest intensity on the principality in the last 50 years.

Grace Kelly, known for screen classics such as Rear Window (1954) and To Catch a Thief (1955), married Monaco's Prince Rainier III in 1956, abandoning movie stardom to become Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco in what was described as a real life fairy tale.

The royal couple had three children: Princess Caroline, now 58, Prince Albert, now 57, and Princess Stéphanie, now 50.

In September 14, 1982, tragedy struck when Princess Grace and Stéphanie were involved in a car accident which cost Princess Grace her life at the age of 52. Her youngest daughter survived with minor injuries.

After Rainier died in 2015, his son ascended to the throne as Albert II but only marrying his wife Princess Charlene, 37, a former Olympic swimmer for South Africa in 2011.

Leading up to the wedding, the couple were plagued by negative reports of infidelity on the prince’s side, which have since been branded in interviews by the princess as ‘categorical lies’, and the pair are now doting parents of seven-month-old twins Jacques and Gabriella.

Stephanie, who is tenth in line to the Monégasque throne, has previously been known as the ‘wild child’ of Monaco, partying across Europe and dating a succession of men in her youth.

She married bodybuilder Daniel Ducruet in 1995, who she divorced a year later, and went on to marry acrobat Adans Lopez Peres, in 2003, also divorcing a year later.

Princess Caroline, Grace and Rainier's oldest child, is the mother of groom Pierre Casiraghi. Now the Princess of Hanover, Caroline, has had a similarly rocky time when it comes to relationships.

She split from first husband, Parisian banker Philippe Junot, in 1980, after a short marriage of two years but three years later she went on to marry Italian socialite Stefano Casiraghi.

The pair going on to have three children together Charlotte, 28, Andrea, 31, and Pierre Casiraghi, 27, but tragedy struck the Grimaldi line again when Stefano was killed in a speed-boating accident in 1990, at only 30 years old.

Caroline went on to marry again, nine years later, to Prince Ernst August of Hanover, Duke of Brunswick.

But in 2009, it was reported that Caroline had separated from Ernst August and had returned to live in Monaco.
