If she had any doubts about her popularity they were definitely assuaged when Selena Gomez touched down in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Returning from a week of birthday celebrations in London, the singer and actress was mobbed as she made her way through the airport.

The 23-year-old couldn't contain her smile as she was surrounded by fans and photographers.

Unlike a lot of jet setting celebrities, Selena was still in the same outfit as she was wearing when she took off from London.

Wearing a pair of blue leather boots and black skintight lurex look leggings, she had her hair scraped back off of her face.

Beneath her voluminous floor length jacket she appeared to have a mesh T-shirt on through which he bra could be seen.

Keeping it light: Selena carried her iPad and kept her earphones in - while her assistant sorted the luggage

And pose: One fan had to jump in to get a snap of the star

Wearing dark glasses, she had her earphones plugged into her ears and held her iPad. It came in handy at one point when she was trying to make her way through the crowd.

With people brandishing their phones for a photo in her direction, Selena managed to make her way through the melee and get out of the airport to waiting transport.

The star ensured she had all her flight essentials in the large leather rucksack she wore on her back.

It was only hours earlier the star was seen arriving at London's Heathrow airport, ready for her return home.

She was seen striding towards the terminal with a group who were on hand the help out with the check in process.

With her head down she looked like she was trying not to draw attention.

Travelling in style, Selena Gomez was spotted jetting into Heathrow airport today wearing a pared back chic ensemble.

And it looks like Selena came prepared for the somewhat unpredictable British weather. Wearing black leggings and a vest, Selena wrapped up in a navy coat, completing her look with a rucksack and some petrol blue leather ankle boots.

Selena Gomez celebrates her 23rd birthday in London

Selena clutched her phone in her hand as she entered the busy airport flanked by her entourage.

While the singer gracefully made her way through departures, her assistant trailed behind with the baggage trolley.

And she certainly didn't travel light.

Selena turned 23 on Wednesday last week and celebrated her special day the following evening with a night out with her girlfriends at Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill.

On Saturday the celebrations continued at London's iconic 19th century Savoy Hotel, where she was served tea in the Thames Foyer.

The actress and her friends sipped on tea and champagne while their table was flooded with pastries and cakes.
