Radiohead are the new favourite to record 007 Spectre soundtrack as bookies suspend bets following 'anonymous £15,000 wager'

Radiohead are now the favourite to record the new James Bond soundtrack, after a £15,000 bet was placed on the band, according to reports.

A spokesperson for William Hill told MailOnline: 'We can confirm that someone did enter one of our shops requesting to place a £15k bet on Radiohead at odds of 10/1.

'On top of that, we have seen loads of smaller bets that have forced the odds down to 6/4 from 10/1.

'A gamble like this suggests that an announcement could be coming soon whether it be Radiohead or another artist.'

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Radiohead for comment.

Ellie Goulding had been the favourite to record a piece for the iconic movie franchise and she did nothing to quash the rumours when she was pictured leaving the Abbey Road studios on Monday.

The 28-year-old only added fuel to the fire, when she posted a snap of herself leaving the studio, captioning the post: 'That's a wrap!'

The singer, who has been recording unknown material at the legendary music studios, was one of the favourite artists in the running to have recorded the track for the the latest 007 movie after Sam Smith denied he was doing it.

With Ellie working on secret material at Abbey Road studios, where Adele recorded the previous Bond movie Skyfall's soundtrack, the post also seemed to hint that she is the voice of Spectre's track.

And this hasn't been the first case of Ellie dropping a hint, with the Halcyon hit-maker dropping a Bond-themed clue, when she tweeted 'Live and let die' earlier this month - the name of the 1973 Bond film with Paul McCartney at the helm.

Meanwhile, the Sam Mendes has revealed that the theme has been written, with the artist's identity to be revealed soon.

Speaking in an interview with BBC news earlier on this month, the director revealed that the theme song is already finished.
