Bill Cosby will answer the claim he sexually abused a comedian when she was 15 years old, her lawyer has announced.

A Californian judge will set a date for the deposition of the 78-year-old actor and comedian over claims made by Judy Huth that he molested her in the Playboy Mansion in 1974 by the end of the week, her lawyer Gloria Alfred

Ms Alfred is representing 17 women who accuse Mr Cosby of sexually assaulting them, and said the first evidence will be heard no later than September 30 when he and Ms Huth are deposed as part of a civil suit.

'We are very pleased that the case is now moving forward whether Mr Cosby likes it or not,' she told USA Today in a statement.

'Mr Cosby may be praying for divine intervention to halt his deposition, but he will soon have to give his testimony in Ms. Huth's case, and we are looking forward to that day.'

In December Los Angeles prosecutors said they would not file any charges against the disgraced star after Ms Hugh accused him of forcing her to have sex with him after he plied her with beer.

They said the statue of limitations had passed for criminal cases, but Ms Huth was still able to pursue a civil case against Mr Cosby.

This week 35 women who have accused comedian Mr Cosby of sexually assaulting them posted for the front page of New York Magazine.

The waitresses, actresses, Playboy bunnies, journalists and writers described how they were allegedly drugged, raped or molested by the star.

In the sworn testimony a decade ago, Mr Cosby said he had paid women after sex to keep the affairs from his wife. He also suggested he was skilled at reading women's unspoken desires and called one of his accusers a liar.
