Lily Allen keeps it casual in baggy white top and black jeans in New York after wrapping up at a recording studio

She has spent much of the past year in Los Angeles, working on new music, but Lily Allen has swapped America's west coast for east as she visited New York recently. 

And once again Lily, 30, was hard at work as the blonde singer spent some time at a recording studio in Manhattan on Wednesday. 

She kept it casual in a baggy white top, black cardigan and trousers and platform sandals and carried her possessions in a backpack.

Lily was joined by a pal as the pair left the studio to grab some food after a busy day. 

The London-born star stepped away from the spotlight in 2011 to marry her builder boyfriend Sam Cooper and start a family. 

And now she's back on the music scene she's determined to keep her relationship alive.

'The secret to any relationship is: stay in love!' she enthused to Germany's August edition of Cosmopolitan. 'But I think we're only at the beginning. Five years are nothing. I won't start worrying until we're 50.'

Sam and Lily started dating in 2009, married two years later and welcomed their first daughter Ethel in November 2011. Their second daughter Marnie followed in January 2013. 

And Lily says she felt that taking time out from the music industry was her only option.

'I needed to know where I stand. In this job there are so many people telling you what to do: album production, promotion... and I always wanted kids,' she explained.

'When I met Sam, it didn't take me long to realise he was The One. And then he just asked if I wanted to marry him.'

Lily made her musical comeback last year with her latest album Sheezus.
