The video began with a bare-faced Gaga standing before the camera before she popped on a towel and a pair of metallic sunglasses as she encouraged viewers to take beauty into their own hands.

As she changed into costume number three - a dazzled platinum wig and diamante bodice - she said: 'Everyone shines in their own unique way, but only you know what your beauty is.'

Next she stepped out in a feathered skirt for her fourth costume change, before getting in a car and relaying the message: 'Don't let anyone tell you what makes you beautiful.'

Her final costume change took place in the back of the car where Gaga opted for a blue leather suit and beaded eye accessories, adding 'it's major'.

The video ends with Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, enjoying a party and telling fans: 'Be yourself - that's what makes you beautiful.'

The singer, who is now engaged to Taylor Kinney, made an obvious choice to deliver a message of self-acceptance after her hits such as Born This Way and Hair encouraged self expression.
