Lena flashed part of her arm tattoo in the patterned top which featured an open collar.

She completed the look in tan moccasins and wore her cropped brunette locks neatly swept to the side.

Hours earlier the actress donned blue spandex to film a running scene for her hit show.

She was seen limbering up and stretching before pounding the sidewalk on location in Brooklyn, with her midriff on display.

Proud of her achievement, Lena took to Instagram to gush about her new found love of running.

'Not usually one to post a paparazzi shot but this fills me with pride. Basically my whole life I have hated running and run like a wounded baby Pterodactyl. It was embarrassing and honestly I did not trust myself to escape a burning building or even move briskly towards a buffet.

'@jennikonner is directing the season finale of Girls and decided that as Hannah evolved so would her run, so she got me a training session with Matt Wilpers from Mile High Run Club.

'Within an hour I had a different relationship to this formerly torturous activity. I felt strong, swift and proud. I'm not about to embrace that triathlon life but it's a true joy to continue getting more connected to my body and its powers. '

Lena is a proponent of regular exercise, but by her own admission: 'It ain't about the a**, it's about the brain.'

In an April Instagram post, the actress said fitness helped her with anxiety and her well publicised mental health issue.

She wrote: 'Promised myself I would not let exercise be the first thing to go by the wayside when I got busy with Girls Season 5 and here is why: it has helped with my anxiety in ways I never dreamed possible.'

Lena went on: 'To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression: I know it's mad annoying when people tell you to exercise, and it took me about 16 medicated years to listen. I'm glad I did. It ain't about the a**, it's about the brain.'

But of course every girl has her hang-ups and an appearance on stage alongside Taylor Swift and models Lily Aldridge and Gigi Hadid earlier this month left her feeling 'chubby'.

Admitting she felt self-conscious at the New Jersey Swift gig, Lena told Billboard: 'I was so thrilled to support my friend and so displeased to learn about the truth of my own height.

'I mean, on most days, I feel really great and fine about my body, but I don't think standing next to, like, three supermodels or so is anything even the most confident woman needs to do.'

Lena is currently filming season five of Girls and this week has been filming scenes with co-stars Andrew Rannells - her friend Elijah in the show and Becky Ann Baker, her on-screen mother Loreen.
