UFC champion Ronda Rousey admits she now feels 'most beautiful' when she is 15lbs heavier than her fighting weight - after overcoming a lengthy battle with bulimia

UFC champion and actress Ronda Rousey may be required to get down to 135lbs in order to fight in her weight class, but the rising star said she feels her 'most beautiful' when she is 15lbs heavier.

The 28-year-old mixed martial arts fighter admitted that she purposely packed on the pounds before posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2015 Issue earlier this year because she wanted to flaunt her natural curves.

'I felt like I was much too small for a magazine that is supposed to be celebrating the epitome of a woman,' she told Cosmopolitan.com. 'I wanted to be at my most feminine shape, and I don't feel my most attractive at 135lbs, which is the weight I fight at.'

'At 150 pounds, I feel like I'm at my healthiest and my strongest and my most beautiful,' she explained.

The professional athlete, who recently revealed that she once struggled with bulimia, explained that  it 'took a lot of time' for her to to develop a 'healthier relationship' with food and her weight.

And while Ronda said she thought she would be happy if her body 'looked a certain way', she realized she didn't think she looked good at her fighting weight.

'Now I only try to maintain my fighting weight for a couple hours a year - right before weigh-ins,' she said. 'Afterward, I maintain a weight where I'm not starving or feeling weak, which makes me happier.'

Earlier this month, Ronda took home two ESPY awards, one for the Best Female Athlete and the other for Best Fighter, a category that included boxing star Floyd Mayweather.

When she took to the stage to receive her award for Best Fighter, the UFC's women's bantamweight champion took a jab at Floyd's domestic abuse record.

'I wonder how Floyd feels to be beat by a woman for once,' she quipped.

And while she boldly called the athlete out for his past history, she doesn't believe his record should stop him from being able to fight in the ring.

'I think that he should be allowed to fight; I think that fighting is unrelated to your personal life,' Ronda said.

'One of my favorite boxers of all time was Edwin Valero, and he ended up killing his wife and kid, which is a terrible thing,' she added. 'If you look at it just from an athletic standpoint, he was still one of the greatest boxers ever. I can't deny that.'

In addition to being a tremendous athlete, Ronda also has a budding acting career, scoring plum roles in films including Entourage, Furious 7 and the upcoming film Mile 22, starring Mark Wahlberg.

However, despite her success, Ronda said she still has a tremendous fear of failure.

'I'm scared of failure so much more than any of the other girls I compete against that I work so much harder than they possibly could,' she said.

Ronda explained: 'I want to be the one that retires undefeated and on top and has that legacy, and I believe that I'm the one that can get it done. I might make an investment and lose some money, but that's something I can recover from.

'There's no way to recover after tarnishing an undefeated record.'
