She's long been a mouthpiece for plus-size women and Gemma Collins is taking her campaign one step further.

The star of The Only Way Is Essex says she is waging war on fat shamers, as she unveils her latest collection for curvy ladies.

Speaking to FEMAIL, self-proclaimed 'Sergeant' Gemma, said: ‘To see women being told they are "disgusting" or "fat" is horrifying really.

'It breaks my heart because these girls have a heart and feelings and insecurities - just like everyone else. How is it OK to knock them down?

'I’m definitely waging war on body shamers. It doesn’t matter what size you are, there are people out there that think just because it's on social media they can tear you apart. 

'I wonder what they look like? They’re not perfect, that’s for sure.'

Gemma explains that she was proud to be apart of the recent social media campaign, #curvee, whereby plus-size women proudly showed off their curves on Instagram - but she was left shocked by some of the responses she got.

She said: ‘I put up a picture on my Instagram in support of #curvee showing girls that inspired me and the comments were vile calling them things like "obese" and "lazy". It’s not correct and it’s not fair. One of those women is a personal trainer!’

Gemma, who is the car dealer turned fashion designer that's helped transform the plus-size retail market, says she wants to empower women with her designs. 

‘I started my collection to allow women to embrace their creativity with their fashion whilst also feeling confident,' she said. 'Plus-size women deserve to put on something that makes them feel like a million bucks.'

Gemma, 34, is most certainly making waves in the fashion industry. She's scooped countless awards for her efforts, including being named plus-size designer of the year; and there's just no stopping the fashion designer.

Speaking about her latest range, the star said: ‘My new collection is so much fun. There’s prints, there’s mini dresses and there’s the opportunity to really show your personality with your style, which is what plus-size women deserve. All of that but with really flattering cuts and fits, which are important to any woman.

‘I really think this season is my best collection so far. I’ve really gone outside of my comfort zone and it's going amazing.

‘I’ve had so many styles sold out and have to be restocked; it’s a dream. I must be doing something right!'.
