'Not interested!' Chelsea Handler claims she never wanted to be David Letterman's Late Show replacement and says she's happy at Netflix

Chelsea Handler was one of the obvious names that came up after David Letterman announced his retirement from The Late Show last year.

The 40-year-old TV host and comedian claims, however, she never wanted the job.

'I was not interested in going to a network. I was never interested in taking someone else's job,' Chelsea told reporters at the Television Critics Association on Tuesday.

'That's not an interesting job for me,' added the former Chelsea Lately host.

She was at the event in Beverly Hills, California as part of Netflix's day of presentations to reporters, promoting her upcoming talk show and documentary series for the online-streaming network.

When the question of moving to a late-night show on a traditional network came up, Chelsea indicated that she had been approached about it but that 'it was never a very serious conversation.'

On Netflix, Chelsea will produce and star in a talk show after she finishes work on her upcoming documentary series of films, Chelsea Does.

Four of the documentaries have been planned, each focusing on a different topic: Chelsea Does Marriage, Chelsea Does Racism, Chelsea Does Silicon Valley, and Chelsea Does Drugs.

'It's been a really transitional year for me,' Chelsea said of her move to Netflix from E!.

'A lot of changes have happened and to have this come together in a way that I'm so proud of - I don't know that I've ever been able to say that about something I've done before.'

Until August 2014, Chelsea Lately was the comedian's main gig, an irreverent talk show that aired late at night on cable.

There is no premiere date set for either the new documentaries or the new talk show.

Several other Netflix shows made presentations on the same day, including The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the streaming network's latest Emmy nominee.

Executive producer Tina Fey, 45, was at the presentation, along with co-creator Robert Carlock and the show's three main stars - Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, and Jane Krakowski.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was nominated for seven Emmy Awards - including Outstanding Comedy Series - for its first season, something Tina ascribed to 'eat[ing] the nerd vote.'
