Are these the youngest looking grannies in the world? Bikini-clad models show off amazing figures in swimsuit contest in China... but you'd never have guessed how old they are

  • Over 100 pensioners entered the contest in Tianjin, north east China
  • The average age of the contestants taking part was 70
  • Competition was designed to promote positive attitude towards ageing

Showing off their toned torsos and trim figures, these Chinese women wouldn't look out of place on any youthful beach resort.

However, with an average age of 70, they aren't your usual beach babes.

More than a hundred glamorous grannies took part in a swimwear contest in Tianjin, northeast China, last week, reported the People's Daily Online

The pensioners certainly didn't show their age as they strutted their stuff on stage.

Some of the elderly women wore headscarfs and carried parasols, while others wore high heels.

A number of men also took part, wearing Hawaiian swimming shorts and even the odd pair of Speedos.

The contest was open to men and women and aimed to promote a positive attitude towards ageing.

The event, which was organised by a local charity, was praised on Chinese social media for breaking away from the idea that only young people look good in swimwear.
