Supermodel Gigi Hadid has made her acting debut in a new short film which reveals the dark and lonely side to living life in the spotlight.

Created by director Sebastian Faena in collaboration with V Magazine, the short film, called Those Wrecked By Success, marks Gigi's first turn as a professional actress - and she doesn't have to speak a word on camera to make it a memorable performance.

The magazine explains that the seven-minute film follows the 20-year-old model as she goes 'through the motions and daily monotony of an otherwise unchanged life', which takes place on the day after Gigi, who plays herself in the film, has apparently won a Oscar.

Be an American beauty like Gigi in Michael Kors

Gigi Hadid is fashion's new golden girl and she comes appropriately dressed to the CFDA awards in an iconic American sportwear designer, Michael Kors.

Michael Kors founded his self-named label in 1981, creating luxurious classics that are so favored by the jet-set for their ease and timelessness. Like any true American success, he's gone public and his company is now valued at over $18.5 BILLION!

Now we see why Gigi's all in gold. Since this is such a striking, sequined look, keep the accessories to a minimum to let that 70s Studio 54 chicness shine.

'Our heroine hides from the world as she wanders her Hollywood mansion and memories past, contemplating the nature of success and what truly happens when you get everything you've ever wanted,' the film's description continues.

But, according to the film, what happens is not very much. The video begins with the sound of a phone ringing, as Gigi is seen laying in bed. Despite not having a stitch of make-up on, the supermodel is still noticeably gorgeous.

The phone stops ringing and Gigi closes her eyes to go back to sleep - until the ringing recommences. The camera flashes briefly to a view of the famous Hollywood sign before returning to Gigi, who is now sitting up in bed.

She's wearing a comfortable-looking silk robe and living inside a seemingly luxurious home, but she doesn't look happy. She sighs and goes back to sleep again, continuing to ignore the ringing phone.

Finally, she gets out of bed, securing her robe and walking out of her bedroom. She stretches her arms and back as sounds of cheering and applause begin to play.

'Huh. I'm surprised nobody ever fainted up here,' her voice is heard saying, as the camera cuts to her standing alone, still and silent in the kitchen. 'I'm in shock. No matter how much you try to imagine this, you can't. It's a weird feeling.'

The voiceover, which seems to be recounting her acceptance speech from the previous night’s glittering ceremony, continues as water brews on the stove: 'But, I'm... it's such an honor. Especially for a little film that seemed to have no future. You changed my life, truly.'

It becomes clear that she is replaying her Academy Award acceptance speech from the night before inside her head, though her face remains expressionless.

'I have to thank so many people, I don't even know where to start. My dream cast and crew. My family, for loving me, for supporting me. I love you, and I thank you all very much,' the voice concludes.

The kettle whistles. Gigi turns it off and walks away, looking despondent.

Walking outside in her robe, she crouches down to sip from a bottle of milk that has been delivered and pick up the morning newspaper. The front page of the paper features a large photo of Gigi alongside the headline: 'Gigi Hadid takes Oscar for Best Actress'.

The above-the-fold story of the Los Angeles Times explains that Gigi beat out Reese Witherspoon and Felicity Jones for her first win, which she earned for playing the role of 'guitar player' in Julianne Moore's feature Still Alice (a film that she didn't actually appear in).

Carrying the paper, Gigi heads back inside, where the phone is ringing again. She admires the view of the Hollywood sign from her home before walking back outside, wandering into a field to soak up the sun.

Finally, the model-turned actress strips her robe off and dives into a pool, emerging to stare stoically into the camera.

The short film, the director told Elle.com, 'is ultimately about refusal'.

He explained: 'A woman whose life changed completely overnight and moves slowly through her morning, as if she were haunted, or exhausted - trying to remember what it's like to feel.'
