After some obligatory shedding for her wedding, and subsequent indulging on her honeymoon, Fantasia Barrino is firmly back on the fitness bandwagon.

In recent days the 31-year-old American Idol winner has been sharing gym pictures and a snapshot into her clean-living regime - which she is juggling alongside a couple of gigs in the U.S.

And on Thursday night as she performed to a crowd in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, it appeared it wasn't just her vocal chords that were getting a workout.

The raspy-voiced singer, who wed businessman Kendall Taylor earlier this month, dripped with sweat as she belted out a soulful medley at the Dell Music Center.

For the occasion she slipped on a tasseled pink costume, teamed with co-ordinated leggings.

Earlier in the week, Fantasia instagramed paparazzi snaps of herself on the beach during her honeymoon, and joked with her 1.2m followers: 'Yea I gained a Lil pound as my "Aunt Bunny" would say...

'But don't laugh too hard cause when I'm done with @sosonya15 you're going to laugh a little harder,' she added, shouting out her personal trainer.

Fantasia will perform in Detroit on Friday night, having arrived in the city earlier today.

On Thursday night she posted a snap of herself in costume and expressed thanks for the warm reception in Philadelphia.

During her honeymoon, Fantasia indulged her social media followers with photos of herself and her husband enjoying the Caribbean island.

The trip followed their wedding on a luxury yacht in North Carolina.

After winning American Idol in 2004, Fantasia went on to win her first Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her 2010 hit Bittersweet.

Prior to dating Kendall Taylor, Fantasia dated NFL player Michael Clayton, who was at the time playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and she was also involved with rapper Young Dro.

Despite admitting that she’s functionally illiterate, the singer landed on the New York Times Best-Seller list in 2005 with her Life Is Not A Fairy Tale.

In 2010 the singer confirmed she attempted suicide after overdosing on pills.
