She stars as the fictional queen of England in The Royals. 

But Elizabeth Hurley's, 50, character is not a traditional monarch, as she proved once again on Friday, as she posed behind the wheel of a buggy car in a cream lace dress.

The actress perched on the edge of her seat, looking glamorous in a figure-hugging dress and large fascinator, while filming scenes for the second series of the unconventional E! television show.

The mother-of-one was captured behind the wheel of what looked like a buggy car, as she smiled for a behind-the-scenes shot on set of The Royals.  

Liz showed off her slim figure - and a glimpse of her cleavage - as she appeared to take control of the vehicle with both diamond-dusted hands.

She enjoyed the wind in her loose curls, which were topped ever-so elegantly with an oversized wedding fascinator and complemented by a statement necklace.

In a second image posted to Instagram captioned 'Busy day on set' Elizabeth looked at ease around her cast members, who similarly reclined on sun chairs.

She was wrapped in a cosy dressing gown as she sat back surrounded by recognisable cast members and some of the crew on the hit E! show.

Unlike her character, who is rarely seen without a pair of heels, Liz had traded her glamorous getup for a pair of gold sandals, as she kicked back in between takes.

The show, that's proved a success in its first series, also stars Joan Collins as the Grand Duchess of Oxford and Home and Away actress Alexandra Park as Princess Eleanor. 

The 26-year-old actress has also taken to posting shots of the cast to her Instagram account, after she captioned an image of Liz and William Moseley who plays Prince Liam in the show 'We love each other... seriously... we do!' 

The Royals returns for season two this November to E!
