'The schooling here is what we want our children to experience': Cate Blanchett's husband Andrew Upton says family move overseas is not permanent

They've spoken about uprooting their family overseas before.

And Andrew Upton has once again confirmed the relocation won't be a permanent one, as he and wife Cate Blanchett want their children to be schooled in Australia.

The 49-year-old this week told The Daily Telegraph on the Helpmann Awards red carpet on Monday, 'we will definitely come back.'

'We will definitely come back because the schooling here is what we want our boys and our girl to experience,' Andrew told the newspaper. 'This is our home.'

In February, The Sydney Morning Herald reported the move wouldn't be permanent either and was to the US.

Of signing off with the Sydney Theatre Company this year and not staying for another term as offered, he told the newspaper about his decision.

'But the deciding factor was that our children are still of an age where they can be mobile without disrupting their education too much. It won't be a permanent move,' he said.

The pair who have been married for 17 years, welcomed Edith into their family in February.

On the Helpmann Awards red carpet, he said the whole family was smitten with their newest addition to Daily Mail Australia.

'The boys love her and I love her and Cate loves her and hopefully she loves us,' Andrew said.

And speaking of their overseas move, he said he and Cate were still deciding where to move to.

'We're not sure about the US. We're not sure where we will go yet. We've got about a year in our minds where we will explore some of those overseas options,' he said.
