Jessica Alba's billion dollar empire gets even bigger! Actress expands the Honest Company with new range of organic tampons and feminine hygiene products

Jessica Alba knows the struggle that every woman goes through during their time of the month, but unlike many women, she is actually doing something about it.

The 34-year-old actress' successful Honest Company has just launched a line of organic tampons and pads after more than two years of testing, and claim that they have come up with a 'healthier and safer' option for women.

'The products are going in and around the most vulnerable part of a woman's body,' Jessica told Cosmopolitan. 'I wanted to give people a real, viable alternative, but something that's also good for the planet and good for her.'

The new products, which include normal, plus and super plus pads, tampons and thong liners, are made from 100 per cent GOTS certified organic cotton and made without all the regular synthetics such as rayon and is fragrance and chemical processing free. The tampons even come with a bio-plastic applicator.

'There's lots of insane things that you cannot pronounce that are in a lot of products and we chose to not put them in ours,' she explained.

They also come in 'super cute' packaging, which Jessica compared to that of 'an artisanal chocolate or an expensive candle.'

Currently, Jessica's products are carried in the likes of Target, Costco and Nordstrom, and the new products will be priced at $5.95 for pads and no-applicator tampons, and $6.95 for applicator tampons.

The Sin City star founded Honest Company with chief executive officer Brian Lee, chief operating officer Sean Kane and chief product officer Christopher Gavigan in 2011 after finding that existing products in the market did not meet the needs of the 'modern person'.

Although the company started with producing natural and eco-friendly baby products, the brand has since expanded into children's clothes, accessories and more as well as moving into the European and Chinese markets.

Despite all of her success, Jessica recently admitted that she felt 'judged' by other mothers when she had her first baby.

Jessica - who has daughters Honor, seven, and Haven, three, with husband Cash Warren - said that she worried about the opinions of other mothers when she gave birth to her eldest child at 27.

Doing it her way: Speaking to Yahoo, Jessica compared the judgement of mothers by other mothers over issues such as breastfeeding to 'the mean girl thing from high school'

Speaking to Yahoo! Parenting about Honest Company's new line, which also includes support for both formula feeding and breastfeeding, Jessica revealed that: 'As a new parent I felt confused, I felt judged.'

But added: 'I found some girlfriends that I could lean on, and a lot of my friends did both [formula feeding and breastfeeding].'

During the interview, Jessica also spoke directly on the 'formula versus breastfeeding' judgement that occurs between mother, saying: 'Doesn't it feel like the mean girl thing from high school? Sort of just transforms into adulthood through motherhood? I think it has to do with hormones, right?

'And then your hormones go crazy again when you're pregnant and having a baby - and even when you're breastfeeding. And I feel like maybe it's just all those hormones, and people don't know where to put their energy, so they just start clashing.'

With all that experience in mind, the 34-year-old beauty created her product line 'for everyone,' adding that she believes there 'is no right or wrong answer' when it comes to mothering.

Nab a vibrant print dress like Jessica

Jessica Alba has mastered the art of dress. Instead of replicating exactly how this geometric- and floral-print tunic was presented at the resort show--that is, over a pair of geometric pants and simple black pumps--the 34-year-old mother of two, actress and entrepreneur made it a youthful minidress thanks to foregoing the trousers and opting for an over-the-knee pair of boots.

The boots are Stuart Weitzman's All Legs boots and you can buy them now (see below). The resort collection, however, has yet to make it to stores. Click right to see the entire collection at Giambattista.com.

Alternatively, see below for some painterly, floral, geometric dresses that are thoroughly modern. If budgetary concerns are nonexistent, snap up Balenciaga's wrap minidress at Barneys. For a relative bargain, choose DKNY's floral print tee dress.

'I'm one of those moms that gives you too much advice that you may or may not want,' she said. 'I think the biggest thing is that what works for you, or what works for your friend, isn't going to work for everyone.'

The actress also spoke about the personalities of her two daughters Honor and Haven, saying that she parents each of the girls differently. 'There's no cookie-cutter way of going about it,' she said.

'I think we as women - and as moms - need to show younger girls that we support each other no matter what and to try and not be so judgmental.'

The Dark Angel star also took a moment to gush over her husband Cash Warren, 36, who she says she wouldn't able to do what she does without, adding that he is a 'great dad' and: 'We are very much a team.'

On top of her business ventures, the busy mom also has no less than three films out next year, including The Veil, Dear Eleanor and Mechanic: Resurrection.
