Proud dad Chris Evans dotes on cute young sons Noah, six, and Eli, three, as they join him on stage to open CarFest North 2015

The world is still wondering who will join Chris Evans as the co-host of Top Gear, after he announced his commitment to the motor show in June.  

But it seemed like the 49-year-old television star had been looking closer to home when he brought along two of his own car enthusiasts to help him open CarFest North 2015 on Friday - his young sons.

Chris, who also became a grandfather in January, introduced sweet twosome Noah, six, and Eli, three, beaming all the way through the Oulton Park stage appearance with pride.

Chris and his young boys all matched in navy caps, while the two boys sported bright yellow Pudsey hoodies, complete with bear ears, to support the Children In Need event.

He doted on the children, who both seemed a little shy to be on the stage and stuck close to their father - and each other - throughout.

Former TFI Friday host Chris was more experienced at overcoming his stage fright nonetheless and talked confidently over the microphone, predictably vamping the crowd with whitty one liners.

He wore a leather jacket, zipped right up, with a youthful hoodie top beneath, his trainers standing out in the low-key ensemble.

Eli and Noah are Chris' children from his marriage to Natasha Shishmanian, though he also has an older daughter Jade.

He became a grandfather for the first time earlier this year to 27-year-old Jade Evans' son Teddy, now seven months old.

Jade was born when Chris, aged just 21, was engaged to former fiancée Alison Ward.

Speculation is still rife over who will join Chris on BBC One's top motoring show, when he takes over from Jeremy Clarkson, 

So far, it has been confirmed that he will definitely star alongside a female presenter, which he told told BBC Radio 5 Live's Nicky Campbell back in June.

Also, Lisa Clark - the former presenter of The Big Breakfast, on which Chris worked in 1992 to 1994 - has also been brought on board to produced the show.

Just this week, it has been announced that former Top Gear stars Jeremy, Richard and James have signed a deal for an as-yet-unnamed TV series on Amazon Prime.

They will reportedly make at least three series of the online series and it will act as a direct rival to Chris' Top Gear.
