During his appearance on the Channel 4's dining competition, where contestants take it in turns to host a dinner party, Mr Baggs said he wanted to 'live hard, die young.'

On the show, he said: 'Every weekend I will be either driving a sports car, sky diving, rock climbing, something crazy.

'How do you know when you are alive unless you know how close you have been to death?'

Stuart added: 'I'm not here for a long time, I'm here for a good time and I want to live hard, die young.'

Mr Baggs was found dead in his luxury seafront apartment by a friend at 9am on Thursday morning lying on the floor with his head on the mattress.

The cause of death is still unknown after his postmortem came back inconclusive but friends and family have ruled out drugs or alcohol. Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Friends say Mr Baggs had been suffering from insomnia as a result of his stressful job -  working 18-hour days and only sleeping for around four hours a night.

The businessman, who lived in Douglas on the Isle of Man, had launched a new 4G internet hub on Tuesday that was set to revolutionise communications on the island.

But in the days running up to the launch of the new product he had complained of feeling unwell and talked about the heavy toll his business was taking on him.

Now Mr Baggs' ex-girlfriend Natalie Skelly has now paid tribute to 'her rock' as she posted pictures of them together on Facebook.

She said: 'You were my rock and I will be completely lost without my other bear.'

'Today has been one of the toughest days of my life. Heaven has gained another beautiful angel Stuart.'

'I love and will miss you dearly Mr Bear even if you do wear my Jimmy Choo glasses better than me! I will treasure my memories with you and will always love you.

'You will be sadly missed by so many heaven may have gained another angel but you've left a huge hole here. I'm so blessed that you were a part of my life.'

Close friend Amy Burns, 33, said she had spoken to Mr Baggs, known for his nickname 'Baggs The Brand', in the days running up to his death.

She added that he had been working very long hours and she was concerned about his health as he had complained of feeling unwell.

She added: 'He said he was feeling ill, he told me he wasn't drinking. We were speaking most of the night. He wasn't feeling down or anything and he was elated for the future.

'I was going to meet up with him but he was that stressed and working that hard and he was messaging me all night saying, 'I've got insomnia. I can't sleep. I' ve been working really, really hard.'

The entrepreneur, who ran BlueWave Communications, lived in a upmarket flat in the seafront in Douglas which he shared with a close friend.

Last week he gave an interview to the local newspaper in which he said: ‘I work, as my hair will tell you, at least 18 hours a day. I sleep for four hours religiously, I would not have it any other way, like Margaret Thatcher.’

His parents, Rosemary and Steven, who live in Port St Mary, said their son was ‘special’ but driven by a huge desire to succeed.

Mrs Baggs, 58, said that ever since he was a schoolboy at Ramsay Grammar School he had been obsessed with launching his own telecommunications firm.

‘This was the moment he had been waiting for and working so hard for and he was stressed and worried because he could not turn off.

‘But he was buoyant and happy because it was the culmination of a lot of hard work but it is such a shock. We are all completely devastated.’

She said the launch of the BlueWave hub had gone well and he had phoned her at 10.30pm on the night of his death and seemed happy and content.

She said: ‘He was working 18 hour days and he was suffering from stress but he was always driven. He also suffered from asthma.

‘He was the life and soul but he was also driven and a workaholic. We don’t know what happened. We are waiting for results of the tests but it is just dreadful, We are all so devastated.’
