Texas rapper Travi$ Scott was arrested after performing only one song at Lollapalooza on Saturday, officials say.

Scott, who was born Jacques Webster, is said to have urged fans to jump over the security barricades soon after his gig began at the popular music festival in Chicago.

Office of Emergency Management spokeswoman Melissa Stratton told the Associated Press that the rapper performed a song on Saturday then began telling fans to come over the fences.

When some of them started to obey him, Scott fled the scene but was taken into custody a short time later, said Stratton. He was charged with disorderly conduct.

No fans were injured and the situation was quickly handled by security, said Stratton.

The rapper was scheduled to perform for 45 minutes at the popular festival.

Some Twitter users claimed that the 23-year-old was half an hour late before hitting the stage to perform.

Stratton said that seven people were arrested, 43 were cited and 85 required emergency medical transport on the first day of the festival.

The music festival, which is hosted in the city's beloved Grant Park, ends today.

It's estimated that as many as 300,000 people were due to attend over the weekend.

General admission tickets, multi-day passes and travel packages for the festival sold out.
