Cashpoint girl! Alexa Ray Joel turns heads in maxi skirt and cardigan as she withdraws money on way to hair salon

As the daughter of a best-selling singer and a supermodel, she certainly has the pedigree of an Uptown Girl.

And Alexa Ray Joel was definitely dressing like one when she stopped at a cash machine in New York on Saturday.

The self-styled singer was turning heads for all the right reasons as she made some last minute preparations before heading to a posh Big Apple hair salon.

The saucy stunner looked fantastic in a long woollen cardigan, grey top and maxi skirt as she pounded the pavement.

Alexa, 29, rounded off her look with silver-coloured stilettos and a pair of comically oversized designer sunglasses.

While her father Billy, who is worth an estimated $160 million, headlines arenas around the world and has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, she clearly has more modest ambitions.

For earlier this year she was warbling and tinkling the ivories as part of yet another residency at the Café Carlyle in New York.

Much like her old man, Alexa is an accomplished pianist and lyricist and has been performing since she was 19.

She lives in Manhattan and is in a relationship with restaurateur Ryan Gleason, who was her date for the awards gala.

Alexa was born in December 1985, nine months after her musician father and supermodel mom, who famously met when Brinkley was cast in the music video for Joel's Uptown Girl, tied the knot.

Sadly their marriage was not built to last and they split nine years later in 1994. They remain on friendly terms however.
