Oh deer! Terrified stag is found drowning in a suburban pool after it was chased by vicious wild dogs that 'wanted its blood'
- A wild deer was chased into a backyard pool by a ravaging dog last week
- The vicious dog was 'chasing after blood', undeterred by a 1.5 metre fence
- This comes after another local lost three of his alpacas to feral dogs
- It happened in Helensburgh, between Sydney and Wollongong
- Residents are concerned for children and the elderly
A terrified deer found itself launching into a backyard pool for shelter, after being hunted by a savaged dog that was 'chasing after blood'.
Residents in a small town wedged between Wollongong and Sydney knew something was wrong when they heard a crashing noise, the animals bypassing a chook pen and 1.5 metre fence to reach the pool.
'If a dog is chasing a deer with that much viciousness, you worry about children and small dogs and elderly people,' a woman inside the house told the Illawarra Mercury.
'We’ve been here 15 years and nothing has gone in that pool ... I think we’ve had a black snake in there and that’s it', she said.
The image was posted on a local Facebook page and captioned 'Does anyone recognise this dog?'

The woman alerted her husband, who rushed outside to scare away the dog, allowing the traumatised deer time to eventually exit the pool after ten minutes.
The attack has left the community in Helensburgh, 45km's south of Sydney, concerned, particularly regarding the wellbeing of their elderly and younger.
Just five minutes down the road in neighbouring suburb Stanwell Tops, Geoffrey Pybus, the owner of Wagon Wheels Country Retreat, lost three of his prized alpacas over the weekend.
Mr Pybus recalled hearing barking at 3am in the morning, and awoke to find three very savaged alpacas scattered across the footpath.
The beloved pets had been with him for eight years, and had suffered fatal injuries to their groins, necks and forearms.
He had not seen any animals prior to the brutal attack, but was convinced that three 'fairly big' dogs were roaming the area.
A spokesman for Wollongong City Council said that they had received a report of the alpaca incident but had no supporting evidence, and confirmed that rangers regularly patrolled the affected suburbs.
