Surf's up! Hunky Liam Hemsworth puts his athletic physique on display as he takes to the waves on a surfboard in Malibu

His dashingly good looks, muscular physique and piercing blue eyes have helped him earn his status as an A-list heartthrob. 

And Liam Hemsworth did not disappoint on Friday, as he kick started his morning with a session on the surf.

The Hollywood star, 25, showed off his rugged Australian looks as he emerged from the waters in Malibu wearing a skin tight wet suit with his dark hair pushed back in a messy style.

Liam had an early morning start by hitting the waves on Friday, as he surfed on a white board while showing off his obvious skill at the sport.  

The actor, who was recently spotted having a coffee with his Independence Day: Resurgence co-star Maika Monroe, looked into the distance as he held onto his surfboard while making his way out of the waters. 

Liam put his surfing abilities to good use on Friday as he balanced on his board with ease, while he looked every inch a movie star in his wet suit.

He's kept a low profile from the dating scene after his engagement to Miley Cyrus ended in 2013, but it appears Liam may be ready to start seeing other people, as he and Maika have reportedly grown close in recent weeks.

But the Hunger Games star didn't have time for anything but his surf board on Friday, as he exercised his strength on the waters by staying afloat on the waves. 

He was pictured using his muscular arms to swim out of the sea when his session had finished, as he flashed a glimpse of his pert behind in the wet suit.

Speaking to Associated Press Liam credited his Hunger Games co-star Jennifer Lawrence to getting his head in the right space again following his split from Miley.

‘I'm much happier. I'm more comfortable in my own skin than I've ever been,’ he said. 

'Being around someone like Jen, who is so honest and laughs all day long, I am forced to be in the right now,’ he revealed.
