She came under fire this week after photos emerged of her donning a burqa in an unsuccessful attempt to evade the paparazzi as she checked into a famous plastic surgery clinic in Paris.

Now, former supermodel Gisele Bündchen has taken to social media for the first time since the images came to light - posting a snap of herself doing yoga with model friend, Kiara Kabukuru.

Alongside the Instagram snap, which appears to have been captured on Friday, Bündchen, 35, wrote: 'Happy birthday sweet @kiarakinc! I’m so happy to be with you celebrating your big day!'

She did not address the photos of herself getting out of a car outside Clinique du Parc Monceau in the traditional Muslim wear on July 15, nor claims that she underwent plastic surgery later that day.

In the image of Bündchen and Kabukuru performing yoga, it is difficult to tell whether the retired supermodel is recovering from the effects of reported $11,000 surgery on her breasts and eyes.

'A special birthday': Alongside the Instagram snap, which was apparently captured on Friday, 35-year-old Bündchen wrote: 'Happy birthday sweet @kiarakinc! I’m so happy to be with you celebrating your big day!'

Sources told the New York Post that after Bündchen and her younger sister, Rafaela, posed as devout Muslims to secretly enter the clinic, they both underwent overnight surgical procedures.

Bündchen, who is married to NFL star Tom Brady, allegedly had operations on her eyes and breasts, which she was concerned had 'sagged' following her two pregnancies, the Post reports.

The sources said the procedures cost Bündchen - who retired from the world of modelling earlier this year - a huge $11,000, and were meant as a 35th birthday and retirement present to herself.

In the Instagram snap, the former Victoria's Secret Angel appears to be dressed in a loose-fitting black playsuit, with the palms of her hands pressed together in front of her, shielding her chest.

However, from the gap in the side of her top, it seems that she is not wearing a support bandage or a sports bra - items that patients are typically told to wear in the weeks after breast lift surgery.

Following such a procedure, patients usually wear a surgical bra for several days and are required to avoid bending over or performing any strenuous activities that could hinder their recovery.

They may experience discomfort, swelling and/or bruising. Several days after the operation, they typically move on to a support bandage or sports bra, which they then wear for several weeks.

However, it can be noted that the Instagram image of Bündchen was likely captured on Friday - more than two weeks after the former supermodel allegedly underwent a breast lift procedure.

Quiet: Gisele, her modelling agency and her team have yet to release a statement or comment on the claims

Therefore, if she did undergo surgery, she would likely be well on her way to recovery. In relation to the claims of eye surgery, Bündchen sideways stance means only part of her left eye is in view.

It is unclear where the image was snapped, but the ocean can be seen in the background.

The photos of Bündchen and her sister donning burqas to enter the clinic on July 15 - two days before the end of the holy month of Ramadan - were first published by the Post on Wednesday.

Thanks to the head-to-toe black garment, the only features of Bündchen that were visible in the images were her feet. But her identity was given away by the presence of her longtime chauffeur.

Just a day earlier, Bündchen was seen elsewhere in Paris with her chauffeur of at least five years.

The sisters also clearly did not do their research on the culture, as they were both seen wearing open-toed sandals in the photos, which some Muslim women consider inappropriate in public.

Doctors typically advise patients who have recently undergone breast lift surgery to avoid any strenuous activity

Additionally, France has banned the wearing of burqas in public spaces since 2010. Following the pictures' publication, Bündchen was criticized and accused of misappropriating the burqa.

'She’s not doing it for Islam. This is very bad,' Imam Muhammad Abdullah Kamal Al-Azhari of the Astoria Islamic Center in Queens told Page Six. 'She’s wearing a holy thing for a bad purpose.'

Residents of the city also expressed their anger, with one commenting on a French website; 'To be photographed in a burqa is ridiculous!!!! Especially since it is forbidden in France to wear it!!!!'

They then added: 'She would do better to fess up to the plastic surgery because that’s not shameful. I never found her to be beautiful and I definitely don’t like her now.'

The day after dropping Bündchen and her sibling off at the clinic, the Brazilian ex-supermodel's chauffeur was pictured returning and picking up the women, taking them back to the Bristol Hotel.

The women then packed and left the hotel again - this time for a five-day retreat to the exclusive Les Sources de Caudalie spa.

On Friday, following the spa trip, Bündchen and her sister were pictured walking around Charles de Gaulle airport on their way out of Paris.

News of the undercover operation came just one day after the NFL decided to uphold a suspension against New England Patriots Brady, whom Bündchen married in 2009.

Brady will be suspended for four games for his role in the Deflategate scandal.

The family certainly won't be struggling for money during Brady's time off the field though, as Bündchen herself made $47million last year, earning her the title of highest-paid model.

However, Bündchen's days of multi-million-dollar paychecks may soon be over, as she decided earlier this year to officially retire from the world of modeling.

'Automatically, my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop,' she told a Brazilian newspaper in April. 'I respect my body; it’s a privilege to be able to stop.'

Daily Mail Online reached out to Bündchen's reps for comment, but have not heard back.
