How to nail the 'no make-up' look in just THREE minutes: Beauty guru reveals tricks for achieving the season’s most flattering natural look in record time
- A tutorial from Topshop shows the viewer how to achieve a flawless look
- The important steps include highlighting, contouring and defining
- Makeup used includes cream eyeshadow, lip bullets and 'glow' sticks
When it comes to make-up, many people will argue that less couldn't possibly be more - especially when trying to attain a flawless glow that makes you look like you've been airbrushed.
But forget a complex regime; it turns out that the secret to perfect skin could be about using a minimal amount of product and slapping it on in under three minutes.
A new video from Topshop shows how to create a polished natural-looking finish by highlighting, contouring and defining.
Topshop makeup consultant Hannah Murray smudges contour cream onto the cheekbones as one of the steps to achieve flawless skin
Make-up artist Hannah Murray shows what it takes to achieve a 'no make-up' look using a model to demonstrate.
She emphasises the importance on straying away from intense colours, but instead sticking to neutral and natural-looking hues.
The point is to accentuate your own natural beauty, with the secret in a little definition on the eye and polished, contoured skin.
the make-up artist uses a highlighting 'glow' stick and draws an arc on both sides above the cheekbones
The highlighter is meant to brighten the overall look of the face and catch the light
At the beginning of the tutorial, Hannah starts by blending in a small amount of foundation, using her fingers, and taking care to even the skin tone.
Next, using a concealer palette and a small brush, she applies the concealer directly to any problem areas, like red areas and blemishes.
For the under-eye area, she picks the lightest concealer colour and applies the product in a semi-circular dabbing motion - using her ring finger to impart enough pigment to brighten the area, all without looking cakey.
Next, Murray focuses on adding definition to the perfected face.
She first uses a contour cream to draw a smudgy stripe diagonally down the side of the model's face underneath the cheekbone.
After blending it in an outward motion, she uses a highlighter glow stick to brighten up certain areas of the face.
Hannah Murray uses a waxy taupe pencil in order to fill in any sparse areas on the brows
The make-up artist uses a golden cream shadow to cover the lid and slightly define the under eye area
A kohl pencil is used from the inner corners to the give the eye feminine definition
She uses the brightening stick to draw semi-circular arcs on top of the cheekbones, a line down the bridge of the nose, a smudge above the lips on the cupid's bow and then a small vertical stripe on the chin.
As she blends the product in, the make-up artist explains the importance of the highlighter to naturally catch the light in the right areas.
Next she uses a small amount of blush to give the model a subtle rosy glow on the cheeks.
Working on the definition aspect, she uses a taupe waxy pencil to fill in any sparse areas on the brows, and takes a cream eyeshadow, in a subtle golden hue, and covers the lid with the product.
She repeats this underneath the eye to give the area slight definition.
Using a soft kohl liner she lines along the top of the eye, starting from the inner corner to achieve a feline and feminine shape.
Next she applies mascara, wiggling from the root of the lashes for an open-eyed look.
Using a lip bullet, make-up consultant Hannah Murray dabs the colour onto the model's lips
The model is left with an airbrushed look with slight definition on the eyes and lips
Using the same contour cream from earlier, the make-up artist deepens the colour on the model's eye socket, giving a bit of depth to the look.
Next using a lip bullet, the make-up artist uses her finger and taps smudges of the colour onto the lips for a just-bitten rosy tone.
The model is left with the appearance of Photoshopped, flawless skin, with a touch of definition on the eyes and lips.
