Why the HUN is our favourite new 'do: Messy half-bun style seen on Khloe Kardashian, Hilary Duff and Miley Cyrus is hot new hair trend

  • Smart 'sock' buns are out as stars dress down their hair with half buns
  • The 'do is simple to recreate and even makes you look younger
  • Stylist at Daniel Galvin Junior salon shows us how to recreate the look

Celebrity trends are generally a no-no for most normal people but every once in a while along comes a look that we can all pull off.

Introducing the 'Hun', the seriously hot right now half-bun hairstyle as seen on Sienna Miller, Khloe Kardashian, Margot Robbie and Hilary Duff.

Part hangover hair, part man bun, this 'do has already been cropping up on celebrity heads for a few months, and now summer is here it's the perfect time to embrace the low-key look.

This low-maintenance style is criminally easy to copy, updating your look in an instant with minimal time, skill or product required.

And best of all it has the added bonus of making the wearer look younger in a 'Croydon face lift' kind of way (see J-Lo) - what's not to love?

So say 'so long' to perfectly preened sock buns, it's now much cooler to look a bit undone.

Here's some hairspo from the stars doing it best....

DO IT YOURSELF: STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO CREATING THE ULTIMATE HUN

Ava Holland stylist at the Daniel Galvin Junior studio in Belgravia says this is one of the easiest celebrity hair styles to recreate and is mostly about the preparation.

She said: 'I'm calling it one hair band, one hair pin look - it really is that simple.

'We used a number of products to create a few different half-up looks such as hair spray and serum.

'It's also important to use a good shampoo and conditioner, such as Daniel's Every Day Shampoo and then Detox Conditioning Treatment on the ends.

Step one: Blow dry the hair making it bouncy or giving it waves
Step two: Part the hair in half all the way around the hair and put the hair into an elastic band
Step three: Taking a small section from the band, wrap around and secure using the pin

DIY Hun: Blow dry hair into bouncy waves, part the hair halfway around the head and fasten with a band before taking a small section out, wrapping around the band and securing with a pin. Simple

And as you can see by the pictures there are a few different variations on the theme, all almost as simple. A perfect, low maintenance summer hair do.'

A fishtail braid will add another dimension to the style
A high ponytail is another variation, taking care to cover the band
