They answered the call! Ghostbusters cast pay surprise visit to children's hospital

Melissa McCarthy and the rest of the crew of the hotly anticipated Ghostbusters reboot - Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon - have been busy filming in Chinatown and the neighboring Theater District of Boston, Massachusetts.

The folks at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center caught wind of the film shoot nearby and decided to have a little fun, posting flyers that read: 'Who ya gonna call?' in the hospital's windows.

Living up to the film's famous tagline, the women answered the call, later showing up to the hospital to pay its patients a visit - in costume - taking time to pose with children of all ages and their families.

According to the hospital - who shared photographs of the delightful visit on its Facebook page - the foursome saw the sign and wanted to come make sure the kids didn't need any help with ghosts.

The women sported their tan jumpsuits with neon orange trim and carried the iconic proton packs as they visited the hospitals' excited patients.

'They were a true delight to have today,' Brooke Hynes, vice president of public affairs and communications for Tufts Medical Center, told People.

'Who ya gonna call?' The actresses visited after noticing a message the patients had put up in the hospital's windows, referencing the movie's famous tagline

'They were so kind to all the kids and their parents. They took their time in each room visiting children as young as a few months to teens,' she continued, adding: 'We cannot thank them enough for the happiness and excitement they created.'

According to a source the stars also checked under a number of beds and scanned some children, just to be sure there were no ghosts around.

'Thank you for taking the time out of filming today to put a big smile on our patients faces! ‪#‎WhoYouGonnaCall‬ ‪#‎Ghostbusters‬,' the hospital wrote, alongside pictures of the visit on the Tufts Medical Center Facebook page.

'Very thoughtful ladies' They also figured out a way to get a photo with a fan who could not have visitors in her room the day they dropped by

The stars - praised as 'very thoughtful ladies' - also took the time to pose outside of the room of a patient who wanted a photograph but could not have visitors in her room at the time of the visit.

However, the four actresses made sure to fit her in the shot as they gathered around outside of her hospital room's door.

This past week, the Ghostbusters crew has been filming at the Citi Wang Theatre in downtown Boston, working on a scene that takes place at a metal concert.

For the 2016 remake of the 1984 cult blockbuster hit, director Paul Feig has switched up the original cast - recruiting the four Hollywood actresses as the leads and casting Chris Hemsworth as the receptionist.

The film is due for release in July next year and although filming is well underway, the plot is not yet known.

Most recently, original cast-member 63-year-old Dan Aykroyd - who played Ray Stantz in the 1984 movie and its 1989 sequel alongside Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson - all but confirmed he'd be making somewhat of a return to the franchise.

'On GB set shooting my scene with funny beautiful Kristen Wiig Lady GB's are adorable, hilarious and badass Exhilarating! #Ghostbusters,' he tweeted.

However, shortly after the tweet appeared on his account, it mysteriously disappeared which can only point to the paranormal or the fact he got in trouble for exposing his secret cameo to the world.

According to Indie Revolver, Aykroyd's plays a cab driver who Wiig's character tries and fails to hail down, and during the exchange he gets to utter the immortal line 'I ain't afraid of no ghosts.'

A flustered Wiig shouts after him: 'That’s a double negative! That means you ARE afraid of ghosts!'

Both Murray and Hudson has previously stated that they would also consider doing a cameo for the film.
