Wakefield answered the door naked, with his eye gouged out and a portion of his arm cut off, the neighbor told police, adding that there was a large amount of blood visible inside the apartment.
Wakefield again answered the door when officers arrived, his left forearm was severed, and cuts on his chest. He allegedly told police he had killed three family members.

Travel photographer Jason Langley captured fascinating images of the city's oldest tower block - the Shek Kip Mei Estate - which is home to a staggering 14,000 people. Around one third of Hong Kong's staggering 7.188 million population live in housing blocks such as these, and the largest can house up to 36,000 people. Mr Langley, who is originally from New Orleans, USA, said each estate functions as a small city as many have their own shops, restaurants and fitness centres.

Beach goer Rainer Hengst photographed the scaly creature swimming in the surf (left) in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, before trappers were able to restrain and reel it in. Police officers who were called to the scene followed the amateur four-legged surfer for two hours as it unhurriedly made its way a mile up the shore.
Eventually, a group of professional gator trappers were able to lasso the animal in and drag it out of the water.

A Colorado man has broken the world record for greatest distance ever run on a treadmill. David Staley, 30, ran 81.62 miles on a treadmill at the University of Denver on Saturday. The 12-hour run bested Staley's friend Denis Mikhaylov--the previous record holder--by a little over a mile.
