Gifford's wife of nearly 30 years, NBC Today host Kathie Lee, said the Pro Football Hall of Famer died suddenly at his Connecticut home of natural causes on Sunday morning. A versatile star on both offense and defense in an era when NFL players were starting to specialize, Gifford went on to a successful second career as a broadcaster on Monday Night Football.

Tali Lennox, 22, and her longtime partner, 32-year-old Ian Jones (both seen right), were in the Hudson River near Mills Mansion, a historic home near Staatsburg, when their kayak overturned around 10am on Saturday. The suspect is said to have taken the officer's gun and beaten him with it until he didn't move. The Hatfield and McCoy descendants came armed - with digging tools. Bright green with pink tips, the unusual critter was captured among other rare species in a stunning collection of underwater photographs by an amateur photographer. Lynn Wu from Taiwan works as a bank worker but spends free time scuba diving to photograph life under water. During a recent trip to Bali, they discovered the colourful creature and a variety of others dubbed ìCostasiellaî by marine scientists.

As well as the pig race, there is an event which sees participants attempt to place plastic rings around boars' necks. While plenty of people seem to enjoy watching and taking part, the pig race has been slammed by animal rights activists , who say the game is cruel.

Dottie Fisher fell asleep watching the news when Labella jumped in her lap, an unusual move for the independent dog who didn't like to cuddle. When she awoke Dottie felt a strange pain running down her arm and went to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with coronary thrombosis. Dottie underwent an operation to unblock it and was reunited with Labella.

A man tried for an hour to get a yellow-bellied marmot out of his home (pictured) but the rodent didn't seem to understand his expletive-laced instructions nor respond to the name 'Dude.' The video was uploaded Saturday to Reddit and has already attracted over 1500 comments - many criticizing the man for his lack of marmot herdingtechnique.
