Carnival worker arrested after butt dialing his friend while having 'sex with his dog' and recording the act

A man was accused of butt dialing a friend while having sex with his dog.

Ex-carnival worker Russell Joseph Meyers, 54, was arrested after he accidentally called a friend while allegedly engaging in a sex act with his German Shepherd, reports AL.com.

Police say the act of bestiality was caught on voice mail when no one answered the phone.

''It's obvious there is a condition there; it's just abnormal, no matter how you look at it,' Sheriff Shannon Oliver told WAFF.

The man, who lives in Phil Campbell, Alabama, will be the second person charged under the state's new, tougher, bestiality law. 

If convicted, he will be required to register as a sex offender.

'It’s scary that it’s had to go on more than we know for them to make it a law,' said Oliver. 

Bestiality is now a Class A misdemeanor in Alabama. 

Meyers reportedly admitted to sexual relations with his dog on four occasions. 

He also reportedly owns a Chihuahua was well, but only engaged in sexual relations with his German Shepherd, say police.

Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said that he will file a motion to show allegations of 'sexual motivation' in court.

This motion applies to abnormal sex offender cases. 

 If proven he had 'sexual motivation' in the charges of bestiality, Meyers will have to register as a sex offender.

The first person charged under the new law, Jonathan Edward Medley, 39, of Geneva, allegedly had sex with his wife's two-year-old Shih Tzu.

Medley felt his wife was paying more attention to the dog than him, reports the Dothan Eagle.  

Meyers was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Meyers reportedly worked for years with various traveling carnivals. It's unclear what exactly his role was in the carnivals.

He is originally from Chicago, Illinois but moved to Franklin County three or four years ago.  

Meyers was reportedly living in a shed without electricity when he was arrested.

The unnamed dog, who is female, is said to be recovering and is being taken care of by Franklin County Animal Control.

She is going to be examined by a veterinarian.

Franklin County Animal Control has previously come under fire for housing its animals in allegedly deplorable conditions, according to The Examiner

Meyers was arraigned in court on Tuesday. 

He covered his face and muttered expletives to the reporters when caught on camera. 

Bond was ordered at $6,000. If Meyers pays out, he has been ordered not to have any contact with animals.
