  • Free agent Shaun Wright-Phillips signs for MLS side New York Red Bulls
  • The 33-year-old will join younger brother Bradley, who joined in 2013
  • Wright-Phillips joins a host of players to make a switch to the States

Former QPR winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has joined up with brother Bradley after signing for MLS side New York Red Bulls.

Wright-Phillips, who became a free agent this summer after four seasons at Loftus Road, joins a host of players opting for a move to the States this summer, including Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo.

The former Chelsea wide man will have his work cut out after being reunited with his younger brother, who has been on fire for the Red Bulls since moving to the MLS in 2013.

Shaun made just 67 appearances since 2011 for the Hoops, scoring just one goal in almost four years at the west London club.

Conversely, younger sibling Bradley has become somewhat of a hero at the Red Bull Arena, scoring 36 goals in 58 appearances, and was a key figure in helping New York capture its first major title, the MLS Supporters' Shield in his first season at the American side.

Wright-Phillips will join the club on a permanent deal, however due to MLS and club policy, additional terms of the contract were not disclosed.

'Shaun is a proven player who has played on soccer's largest stage,' said New York Red Bulls Sporting Director Ali Curtis.

'He can play a number of positions for us and is an excellent fit in our locker room. When we evaluated the unique set of circumstances along with the quality that Shaun has, it became apparent that we needed to be aggressive about adding Shaun to our club. We are pleased that he will be wearing a Red Bull jersey and we can't wait for him to take the field.'

The club announced that the 33-year-old will be available for Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Union.
