Ellen Page cut a casual figure when she headed out with her girlfriend Samantha Thomas on Tuesday.

The actress, 28, and Samantha, 33, have been spotted numerous times together in recent weeks and seemed happy and relaxed in each other's company as they enjoyed an evening stroll with friends in New York City.

The Inception actress looked youthful in a blue, relaxed shirt which she buttoned up right to the top.

She rounded off her casual look with black jeans, plimsolls and a baseball cap.

Artist Samantha was equally dressed down in a plain back tee which she wore with skinny jeans and red hi-top trainers.

Samantha, who hails from Texas and is also said to be an avid surfer, was recently described as an artist to 'focus on' by Baku Magazine.

Ellen came out as a lesbian at a LGBT youth event in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day 2014.

Shortly afterwards she revealed that she'd been in two same-sex relationships - one in 2007 that lasted two years and another which she called 'a pricklier affair'.

The Juno star also revealed that she was keen to tie the knot one day and told The Hollywood Reporter in May last year: 'I'm so stoked to get married. I'm such a romantic, it's awful.

'I don't think I'd want to make a kid, but I'd love to raise one. I'd love to raise a kid,' she added.

Speaking about her decision to reveal her sexuality just days before her 27th birthday, Ellen said: 'I knew I would be happier.

'But I wouldn't have anticipated just how f***ing happy I am and how every tiny little aspect of my life feels better,' she added.

The Canadian actress recently finished work on Tallulah, which she worked on alongside her former Juno co-star Allison Janney.

The film, which is due out in 2016, follows the story of a free-spirited young woman (Ellen) who is hired to babysit the child of a wealthy housewife and decides to take the baby away from her unaccountable mother.

She proceeds to act as if she is the biological parent and is helped out by her ex-boyfriend's mother, though ultimately, all three women come together to forge a unique bond between themselves.

Ellen will also share the spotlight with Julianne Moore in Freeheld, a drama about gay rights that she began filming shortly after coming out in February 2014.

'To be shooting the movie so soon after coming out was some of the most joy I've ever felt on a film set,' the actress revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

Freeheld is scheduled for a US release on October 2.
