They split in May after two years of on-off dating, citing their busy schedules.

But, Cody Simpson says despite his recent break up with Gigi Hadid, he still plans to meet up with the American IT girl, while their both in Australia this week.

'We'll probably catch up while we're in town,' he told Channel 10's The Project on Tuesday night, before adding, 'it's super amicable, she's a great chick.'

On a recent flight from Canada to the U.S Cody was seated next to his former flame.

Opening up about the embarrassing experience on Tuesday, he told NOVA he didn't instantly recognise the model of the moment and was actually considering hitting on his blonde seat partner until realising who she was.

'I'm sitting there, I see this blonde hair I'm like, "Oh yeah, let's do it"!' he told breakfast hosts Fitzy and Wippa.

'She was like reading a book or something on her phone, she had her head [down] so you can't tell [who it is] and because the seat was like that you only see blonde hair and I'm like "yes!" and then she looks up and I'm like...' he said, turning away from the microphone and mouthing an expletive.

'I look at her and I just start cracking up, like and everyone's looking at me, I start cracking up and she's looking at me like "What are you doing?"

'I sit down and I pull SnapChat open and I'm like "Yo", and she looks and I go click.
