'I'm buzzing': One Direction star Louis Tomlinson breaks silence about impending fatherhood during GMA appearance

Louis Tomlinson has broken his silence about becoming a father - and says he's 'buzzing'.

The 23-year-old One Direction star made the comments during an interview on Good Morning America on Tuesday.

Host Michael Strahan prompted the reaction when he said: 'Louis, from one father to another I want to congratulate you on your upcoming fatherhood. So how are you feeling?'

Louis replied with a smile: 'Thank you. Obviously it's a very exciting time, so I'm buzzing.'

News of Louis impending fatherhood broke last month after it emerged he had got his 23-year-old stylist Briana Jungwirth pregnant.

Louis and Briana are not a couple, but are committed to co-parenting, a source told Us Weekly recently.

Of course the news sparked quite the stir among loyal One Direction fans last month - but Louis' fellow bandmates were also taken aback.

During an interview on UK radio station Magic on Monday, Liam Payne told host Jo Parkerson: 'Well, obviously I was a bit shocked, but he's taken super well to it.

'He's very excited with what's going on with him at the moment and I feel that stuff like that happens sometimes. He's taking it very seriously.'

Quizzed on what he thought of the pretty mother-to-be, the singer replied: 'Yeah she's really nice, she's a lovely girl.'

One Direction - now a fourpiece following Zayn Malik's shock departure earlier this year - also performed their new single Drag Me Down for the first time on television during their Tuesday appearance on the American breakfast TV show.

And Niall Horan managed to look perky, despite being spotted out on the town on Monday night.

The 21-year-old singer was spotted leaving Soho House members' club in Manhattan's Meatpacking District on Monday evening flanked by security.

Drag Me Down is the band's first single as a foursome and follows November 2014's Night Changes (the last single before Zayn Malik's departure in March).

The track, released on Friday, also set a new Spotify record for the greatest number of streams over one day, hitting the 4.75m alone on Friday alone.

The band are currently on the North American leg of their international On The Road Again Tour until mid September, and will then head to Europe.

Louis, Liam, Niall and Harry have soldiered on as a four-piece in spite of Malik's departure, who last week signed a solo deal with RCA records.

Strahan asked the group about Malik's exit too, and Liam replied: 'Obviously it's different, but it's still going great, and that's what this album is about.'

Liam was of course talking about the band's hotly anticipated fifth album, which is almost ready for release, Niall recently teased.

The band are making finishing touches to the LP while they continue their tour.

Niall recently told UK radio station Capital FM: 'Most of the album is written and a lot of it is recorded.'
