'She’s going to be in for a couple of days,' a friend of Lee's told the New York Post.

'She started having pain. She knew something was wrong. It’s some sort of fluid buildup and pain. She was just feeling general fatigue and run down.'

According to a source who spoke with the New York Daily News, Lee is suffering fluid buildup and 'the plan is to monitor her for a couple of days.'

Governor Cuomo was attending a Billy Joel concert at Nassau Coliseum when the emergency happened Tuesday night, and left the event early to be by his girlfriend's side.

Lee, 49, was diagnosed with breast cancer in march but did not reveal this until she announced she would be having a double mastectomy in May.

At that time she had already undergone a lumpectomy.

She has been posting photos and videos of her recovery to social media to share with her fans and keep them updated on her progress.

On Monday, Lee posted a picture of her on a recent doctor's visit, writing: 'Here I am at my doctor’s office. Maintaining a positive attitude and surrounding myself with only good vibes is what helps me get through my appointments and helps me to continue to get stronger!'

And earlier last month, Lee shared a post about the first few days after her mastectomy.

Keeping positive: Lee shared this photo of herself at a doctor's appointment on Monday, writing that she was surrounding herself 'with only good vibes'

'I think what surprised her the most was my experiences on the second day (they call it the second day but it's really just the day after).

'I have to say, I felt absolutely fine - it was as if nothing happened.

'I thought, "this is easy, what's the big deal? I got this."

Boy was I wrong!' Sandra wrote.

She then shared a picture of that day, which shows her walking around her hospital room, talking on her cellphone, seemingly fine.

Lee says it wasn't until the following day that she really began to feel the effects of the surgery.

'I am slowly returning back to my daily routine. I am getting more and more energy every day. Slowing down is not something I am used to doing but I know it’s so important to ease back into everything,' she wrote, sharing this picture, on July 26

'The third day (two days after surgery) it came (the drugs - the really druggy drugs and adrenaline wore off) and hit me like a Mac truck.

'I can only compare it to someone who's been in a massive car accident who gets up from the scene of the accident walks away, then has a complete conversation - then walks away, falls down and collapses,' Lee remembered.

In late May, Lee was forced to make a trip to the doctor shortly after her procedure when she twisted in her bed and wound up tearing a muscle.

She lost 15 pounds following the procedure and detailed her feelings of weakness and nausea in the days following her operation.

Governor Cuomo, 57, remained by her side during her recovery, even taking a brief break from work.
