A 12-year-old boy called 911 and hid in a closet Monday morning as two men burglarized his family's home in Scottsdale, according to police.

Police said the boy ignored a doorbell ring at 7:30 a.m. but soon saw two men go around to the backyard and attempt to break into the home near Bell Road and Thompson Peak Parkway, according to Sgt. Ben Hoster, spokesman for the Scottsdale Police Department.

The boy grabbed the phone, hid in the closet and spoke to a 911 dispatcher as the burglars did their work, Hoster said. Police arrived in time to confront two suspects outside the house.

Charlottesville Cavaliers disqualified because they had a girl playing for them

Jessica Thomas-Johnson, from Charlottesville, Virginia, said her daughter Kymora (left, inset) was allowed to play in four out of five days of a tournament last week, before her team was disqualified. She says when the Charlottesville Cavaliers (pictured right, wearing pink in protest at the decision) checked in for the tournament, the team coach was told he was allowed one girl on the team, and a second girl was removed from the team sheet to allow Kymora to play. The team then played four games over four days, before being taken aside after their fifth victory to be told they were being disqualified. Ms Thomas-Johnson said Kymora did not even play in the fifth game, but officials told her it made no difference.

Adorable four-year-old James Tufts has followed in six-year-old brother Robert's footsteps, who served two terms in the ceremonial position in the tiny town of Dorset which has just 22 residents. James spent election day chatting to voters and wooed them with the promise of ice cream if he won. The boy's mum Emma, a food service director, said: James was very excited once he realized he won. Both him and Robert got there face painted and then he soaked up some congratulatory attention. We are proud of the hard work they both have put into being and becoming mayor.
