CBC-TV co-host Christopher Hyndman of the lifestyles show 'Steven and Chris' was found dead in Toronto on Monday night. Toronto police say they found Hyndman's dead body in a Toronto alleyway (top left) at 11.00pm on Monday night close to the apartment where he lives with his partner and co-host Steven Sabados (pictured together bottom left). The Toronto police said they will not divulge more details about Hyndman's death unless it is deemed a criminal investigation. Law enforcement are still searching for clues as to what may have caused the tragic incident, reports CBC.

A video purportedly released by ISIS has threatened to kill a Croatian father-of-two if Egyptian authorities do not release 'Muslim women' held in prison within 48 hours. The video, which was shared on Wednesday by Islamic State sympathisers, shows a man wearing a yellow jumpsuit kneeling before a knife-wielding masked man in military fatigues. The man, who remains silent the whole time, holds the knife in his left hand - just like Jihadi John, leading to speculation it may be the British murderer. Reading from a note, he identifies himself as 30-year-old Tomislav Salopek, and says ISIS fighters captured him on July 22.

Jessica Thomas-Johnson, from Charlottesville, Virginia, said her daughter Kymora (left, inset) was allowed to play in four out of five days of a tournament last week, before her team was disqualified. She says when the Charlottesville Cavaliers (pictured right, wearing pink in protest at the decision) checked in for the tournament, the team coach was told he was allowed one girl on the team, and a second girl was removed from the team sheet to allow Kymora to play. The team then played four games over four days, before being taken aside after their fifth victory to be told they were being disqualified. The Mormon church for the first time is publishing photos of 'the seer stone' (pictured) it believes founder Joseph Smith used to help translate the story that became the basis of the religion. Mormons believe that 185 years ago, Smith found gold plates engraved with writing in ancient Egyptian in upstate New York (top right). They say that God helped him translate the text using the stone and other tools (bottom right), which became known as the Book of Mormon.

Salt farmers have take a leaf out of nature's book to create these incredible shapes on a dry lake. The patterns in the lake bed are an astonishing 320ft long and look just like leaves - and even have the same 'veins' inside.

Adorable four-year-old James Tufts has followed in six-year-old brother Robert's footsteps, who served two terms in the ceremonial position in the tiny town of Dorset which has just 22 residents. James spent election day chatting to voters and wooed them with the promise of ice cream if he won. The boy's mum Emma, a food service director, said: James was very excited once he realized he won.
