Nashville movie theater shooting in Mad Max screening leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

SWAT team cordoned off an area surrounding the Carmike 8 theater in Antioch, Tennessee, at 1:13pm on Wednesday afternoon after movie-goers alerted nearby officers to the gunman who walked in wearing a surgical mask. A short time later the 51-year-old man from the area, who has not yet been identified, was shot dead by police after escaping the theater out of the back, pictured left. A 58-year-old man was injured after he was attacked while two women - aged 53 and 17 - were treated for chemical exposure at the scene after the inside of the theater was covered in pepper spray. It comes just two weeks after John Russell Houser open fired in a Lafayette, Louisiana, theater - killing two people and injuring nine - during a showing of the Amy Schumer movie Trainwreck. Police spokesman Don Aaron said the actions of the officer who shot the man likely saved many lives.

Baby rescued by father's desperate call home when he realized he had left boy in 80F car at train station on work commute

uthorities said a 6-month-old boy was left in a hot car for several hours Wednesday morning at the Forest Glen Metro stop after his father said he forgot the baby was in the back seat, locked the car and got on the rail system to go to work. The incident began around 10 a.m., when authorities said the child?s grandparents called saying the boy?s father had called them once he realized he had parked the car at the Metro stop and forgotten the baby. Authorities said the father later said he parked at the Forest Glen stop around 7:30 a.m. When rescuers arrived at the station they found the boy?s grandparents searching for the car. They were able to locate the car and found the infant in it. Firefighters broke the car windows to get the baby out. He was said to be conscious and breathing and was transported to an area hospital.

The 6-month-old boy had spent close to three hours inside the locked vehicle at the Forest Glen Metro station in Silver Spring, Maryland, before someone noticed the child and called police.

The domestic abuse suspect crawled out onto the roof of the blue-shingled home at 600 block of Lafayette Avenue NE in Grand Rapids, Michigan, while police combed the house looking for him on July 31. Someone across the street snapped the photo of police fruitlessly searching for the roof-riding suspect and posted it online to Imgur.
