Lewis Hamilton shows off his 'preposterous behaviour' - by revealing an image of him smoking a cigar at a Barbados parade.

The 30-year-old reigning Formula One champion is currently on holiday as his sport takes a mid-season break and this week he's been enjoying spending time in the company of singer Rihanna.

After the pair were pictured dancing closely on a party truck as it made its way through Bridgetown, Hamilton decided to share an image and a video of him dancing with fans via Instagram.

The 30-year-old was clearly enjoying the festivities as he partied away on Monday

Accompanied with the caption: 'Positively preposterous behaviour I say!! #0****sGiven #daggeringboss #BarbadosCropOver,' the two-time world champion was seen with a cigar in his mouth while partying in the image.

And the video, in which he dances toward the camera before turning his back on it, was uploaded with the caption 'Crop Over 2015 was such a great time!!!! #Barbados #IslandBoy #LHonRoad #GrenadianRoots'.

He was at the Barbados' annual Kadooment Day event - a celebration for the end of the sugar cane harvest which is traditionally marked with drinking, dancing and a party through the streets - on Monday.

Hamilton, who recently took to social media to show off his new plaited hairstyle in preparation for the trip to Barbados, returns to the F1 grid in just over two weeks, travelling to Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgium Grand Prix on August 21-23.

He leads the Drivers' Championship by 21 points ahead of Nico Rosberg.

Hamilton will be eager to get back to his best as he looks to extend his lead after a horror show in the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 26.

Hamilton ended the race in sixth place having been on pole and admitted: 'I was all over the place. I really don't have any words to describe what happened.

‘It was a really bad performance from me, one of the worst in a long time. I don't know if it was a lack of concentration or what.'

Hamilton will be praying there is no repeat of last year's Belgium Grand Prix, after a collision with Mercedes team-mate Rosberg hampered his chances of securing a second F1 world title at the time.
