  • Michael Jackson lived in the house up until he turned 30 years old in 1988
  • His father, Joe, bought the mansion when the Jackson 5 were huge stars
  • It's where Michael lived when he recorded classics Thriller and Off The Wall
  • His brother Jermaine continued to live there for many years afterwards

Michael Jackson's estate is considering opening the home he lived in while making pop history up to the public, it's been reported.

Hayvenhurst House in Encino, California, was once home to the entire Jackson family after father Joe bought it in 1971 at the height of the Jackson 5's success.

Even when the group's album sales began to plummet the next year, Michael and Jermaine were enjoying almost unprecedented success.

It would remain the home of Michael Jackson as he became the King of Pop, recording multi-platinum albums that made him hundreds of millions of dollars.

And now his estate are thinking of opening the house to the public, reports TMZ.

The house is where he lived when he recorded his most famous albums, Thriller and Off The Wall.

The albums contained classic tracks including Beat It, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough and Billie Jean.

And it was to Billie Jean that he first unveiled his trademark dance move, the moonwalk, in 1983.

It was also once the home of his famous chimpanzee, Bubbles, and where he recovered from his first nose job in 1979.

He bought it from his father in 1980 and lived there with his family until 1988, when he moved to Neverland, his flamboyant and extravagant ranch house around two hours drive westwards.

The family still held onto the house and Jermaine, Michael's brother, lived there on and off for many years.

The sources say that plans to open up the house to tour buses and fans are not yet set in stone but they are making inquiries as to whether it will be legal to do so.
