Halle Berry will be celebrating her 49th birthday in less than two weeks.

The Extant star proved she's still one of the most stunning fashion and beauty icons around while heading to dinner at trendy Craig's restaurant in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Halle was dressed in a sexy black dress made of loosely fitting silk material, which was perfect for this hot summer day.

Showing just a hint of cleavage, Halle accessorised her decollétage with intricately dangling earrings and a simple pendant necklace.

The knee-length hem also allowed views of her perfectly sculpted legs that were highlighted further by ankle-strapped black sandals.

Halle wore her long hair pulled back in a casual ponytail while her complexion was radiantly smooth with just a trace of neutral-toned make-up.

Elsewhere, Halle is currently starring in season two of the CBS sci-fi series Extant.

As she admitted during a spring press conference to promote the series, Halle was initially terrified of taking the television role but is now counting her blessings.

'The best things in my opinion are on television now. So I'm lucky to get to be on TV actually,' Halle said. 'In a show of this quality with these show runners, these actors, it's high quality, and I feel really lucky that I get to work in this medium.'

Halle - who won an Oscar for her role in Monster's Ball - revealed that playing astronaut Molly has been the hardest of her career.

'It is a whole lot of work. I mean, I've never worked so hard in my life,' added the mother of two, Maceo, 22 months, and Nahla, seven.

'I was nursing, my baby was just three months old when we started, so I was doing drive-by nursings every two hours and I was over my head - the amount of scenes we shoot in a day, the things I had to memorise,' she recalled.

Meanwhile, Halle has been spotted without her wedding ring in recent months, fuelling speculation her marriage to Olivier Martinez is on the rocks.

But according to TMZ, the Hollywood siren has quashed the rumours with sources telling the website that Halle lost the wedding band in Mexico at the Acapulco International Film Festival in January 2014.

The acclaimed actress reportedly claimed that her ring had either fell off her hand or she left it on a table and someone took it.

Insiders also revealed that there has ‘been no discussion about divorce with an attorney.’
