It has been a busy few months in Macklemore's household

Ben 'Macklemore' Haggerty confirmed on Wednesday that he and partner Tricia Davis are parents to a beautiful baby girl, before Tricia went on to reveal that they also tied the knot.

The rapper dropped the baby news on his social media account revealing that the little girl is two months old and already she is his muse.

Named Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty, his daughter is the inspiration for his and musical partner Ryan Lewis' new song, Growing Up (Sloane's Song), news of which was released simultaneously.

Rumours the 32-year-old was a father started in June when a fan snapped a picture of the rapper with a newborn in a carrier strapped to his chest.

At the time the star did not confirm the good news, but now he wants the world to know of his and Tricia's little girl.

But wait, there's more: After Macklemore revealed he was a dad, Tricia (pictured 214) are parents to a beautiful baby girl, Sloane Ava Simone

But wait, there's more: After Macklemore revealed he was a dad, Tricia (pictured 2014) took to social media to continue with the good news, saying the couple had wed on June 27 - the day marriage became legal for gay and lesbian couples too

He wrote on Instagram: 'Our daughter, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty was born 2 months ago on May 29th.

'There is nothing like the joy and happiness that comes from bringing a baby into this universe. She has filled my heart in ways that I never knew were possible.

'She is the love of my life. This song is for her.'

The artwork for the single - which features Ed Sheeran - shows Macklemore holding on to his little girl's wrist.

His wife, meanwhile, waited for the baby news to drop then posted a picture of the rapper cuddling his little girl and revealed they are also married.

'We had our beautiful baby girl on May 29th... Got married on June 27th once the Supreme Court ruled same sex couples could too... And now new music. Thank you all for being patient, this year has been incredible so far, we love you.'

One of Macklemore's biggest hits is song Same Love, which speaks of the need for marriage equality. Tricia produced the clip to that song.

Macklemore asked Tricia to be his wife in January 2013 after seven years of dating.

Explaining his and Ryan Lewis' newest track, the hitmaker said Sloane was the inspiration from day one.

Taken presumably from the inside cover of the single, the Thrift Shop posted on Instagram: 'We were recording in a remote cabin away from the density that is Seattle... I was going back and forth to the city once a week to attend birthing classes with Tricia.

'When I got back to the cabin the next day, Ryan had made a new beat that would eventually become the song you're listening to. Half of it is advice about growing up. The other half is about trying to grow up myself.'

Clearly becoming a parent for the first time made the star, who has struggled previously with addiction and relapsed last year, realise what is important.

'When you try to escape yourself, life has an interesting way of creating situations that force you to come back. To look at who you are.

'This is why Growing Up felt like the right song to re-emerge with. It’s where I’ve been the last year, through all the ups and downs.'

Her father's musical career has already been a big part of the two-month-old's life with her mother previously revealing her midwives and doula are from the clinic that Tricia as a producer used for the Same Love film clip.

She said on social media: 'We were turned down by many other clinics and people... [Tina] opened up to the project immediately and was so gracious throughout, despite Ben not being well known. Flash forward, she will be delivering our little boy or girl.'

The couple announced they were expecting originally in January with Ryan posting a video of his band mate and his love undergoing an ultrasound.

Growing Up (Sloane's Song) will be Macklemore and Ryan's first track off their long awaited third studio album which follows on from smash sophomore release, The Heist, in 2012.

Guest star: Ed Sheeran (pictured July in Ireland) also features on the new single. The album is expected to drop later this year
