  • In a video posted on her YouTube channel, Klossy, the star revealed the 23 things she has learned during her life

Supermodel Karlie Kloss isn't your average twenty-something, but that doesn't mean she can't share some relatable advice.

In celebration of her 23rd birthday on Monday, the former Victoria's Secret Angel compiled a list of the 23 things she's learned during her 23 years on Earth - all while baking herself a funfetti cake straight out of the box.

Karlie, who collaborated with Momofuku Milk Bar to create Karlie's Kookies, a philanthropic line of baked goods, admits in the video shared on her Klossy YouTube channel that she is typically more health conscious when making treats for herself, however, she is willing to make an exception to celebrate such a special occasion.

'So normally I bake really healthy; no butter, no eggs,' she explains. 'Today I am making a Funfettit cake, and you know what? It is my birthday, so I am going to enjoy it.'

While her cake is baking in the oven, Karlie sits in her kitchen and rattles off her life lessons, starting with a plea for people to FaceTime their families when they have free time.

The model, who is starting classes at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individual Study this fall, computer codes in her spare time, so it is unsurprising that her second piece of advice is that 'hard work pays off'.

The blonde beauty wisely notes that she has learned that 'not everyone is going to like you, and that's okay', and while her next life lesson is related to that, it’s somewhat specific to Karlie – and all of those lucky enough to be blessed with a similar supermodel physique.

'If someone calls you a giraffe, that's okay too,' she says with a smile.

Karlie ultimately thinks that 'blondes seem to have more fun', but that may be because she and her best friend Taylor Swift both rock matching flaxen locks.

'Coffee is a gift from the heavens,' she jokes, taking a big gulp of java out of a nearby mug, before turning suddenly serious and saying: 'Failing is okay, so long as you learn from your mistakes.

When it comes to fashion, Karlie notes that you should 'wear colorful things' because 'life is too short to always wear black'.

And Karlie, who is the godmother to Jourdan Dunn's son Riley, adds that when you are given the chance, you should hold a baby.

Karlie goes on to say that stepping outside of your comfort zone will help you grow, while insisting that you should always choose happiness and sleep.

Steal some supermodel style in a cropped top by Long Tall Sally

Happy Birthday to Karlie Kloss.

The model may only be 23 but she has already become a household name thanks to her work as a Victoria's Secret Angel and campaigns for Dior, Saint Laurent, Oscar de la Renta, Lacoste and Dolce & Gabbana.

And of course she's Taylor Swift's best friend which guarantees her many column inches. The pop starlet posted this picture of Karlie yesterday and the supermodel was looking as stylish as ever. Wearing a floral wrap maxi skirt and cropped top she looks naturally beautiful and summer ready.

And seeing as Karlie is a statuesque 6 feet tall it's no surprise she's wearing a cropped top from Long Tall Sally, a brand specifically for leggy ladies. This off shoulder crop is perfect for summer and will look gorgeous with high waist jeans or a midi skirt.

She even gets a little goofy when she strikes a pose and notes, 'When in doubt "Blue Steel” it out,' referencing the signature pose by Derek Zoolander, a character in the hit fashion comedy film Zoolander played by actor Ben Stiller.

Karlie confesses to storing chocolate throughout her kitchen and advises others to 'always' have it nearby. She also admits to being a huge fan of emojis because just one 'says 1,000 words'.

And according to the star, 'the best accessory is a smile - or a newspaper'.

Karlie goes on to remind people that they are never to old to call their mothers for help and that 'coding is the language of the future'.

The tech savvy star spread her passion for computer coding and empowering young women when she teamed up with the Flatiron School in New York to offer teen girls around the country scholarships to the academy's software engineering program this summer.

Kode With Karlie scholarships provided 20 girls between the ages of 13 and 18 free tuition to the same two-week coding course she took last year at the Flatiron Pre-College Academy, and her next piece of advice may be helpful to the budding scholars.

She notes that you should always make sure your alarm is set for am, not pm.

'I've made that mistake,' she whispers before confessing that she gets 'really happy' when people subscribe to her YouTube channel.

'And the last thing I learned is that I still have a lot to learn,' she says for final piece of advice.

Karlie ends the video by decorating her birthday cake and blowing out the candles in front of the camera.
